OMG!!! Noooooooooooooo. Dave, train, stairs! :'(
and there's a pole in the background lol
I'd say something witty, but all I got is...
Billfred! Caption Contest hopper!
Whoa. Definitely confirms all the train related conspiracy theories.

After the game hint came out, I was inspired to do more research and to hear what others had to say. This picture only reinforces my Theory, which I shall summarize and ask for critiques on:
After the Delphi pack mirrored the game hint image and reverse-image searched it, the person in question came about. I think it would be a fair assumption that the person in the image is Eva Boyd (AKA Little EVA). She was a singer, and a fairly good one at that! One of her hit songs turned out to be "The Loco-Motion".
This conspicuous and apparently non-related picture includes a Mr. Dave Lavery. We all know that Dave, being the conspirator he is, has a hand in much of this mischief. Odds are (In my probably incorrect opinion) that these two instances of trains and or Loco-Motion leads us down a path, or shall I say a rail-road, which will in turn bring us to kickoff ;)
Was this recently taken? When Dave knew the game? If yes we will be seeing a train game if no, Jan. 8th can't come sooner.

Pretty sure Dave knows the game when it's designed. ;)
Did he know of the game during that picture? (correction lessen to what I mean not what I say)

Yay, another red herring for them to mess with us, or is this supposed to be another hint that they won't admit to? Either way, I am going to be over-analyzing this just as I did with the last picture. Now I have something to do on the 8 hours of driving I have left today.

Also, what is written on that piece of paper Chris is holding? Probably the password to the encrypted game rules.

I've often thought (at least for the past 3 years...) that Dave 'rewards' us with something like a dot or a photo or pun/post - when we get something or partially get something. It's like a puzzle. Ok, you have that piece - somewhat - now here's another one.
--
I remember the photo that JVN posted. He and Dave both like linkages. There is also a great admiration (from at least one of them) for steam and locomotives. I, personally, like the bell. Clang, clang, clang. And, of course, there is the whistle. Nothing like a mournful whistle of train.

I, for one, refused to be railroaded down this train of thought so easily! Geeze, one lousy game hint just builds up steam for any old picture to come through and go two pages in a matter of hours.
I got a million of 'em. If you're right, CD will hear them all. ;)

Not to get anyone's goat, but it is done for the shear joy of spinning a good yarn. And if we can yak about fleecing JVN out of a few good ideas at the same time, then it is worth ramming through the discussion before hoofing it out of here. At least, that is what I heard from Dan Merino...

Pretty Close.
I think the locomotive in the Background is a Frisco 4-8-4 of the 4500 series, number 4501. Bell, hand rails, and headlight match.
The foreground locomotive has to be one of the monster 4-8-8-4 "Big Boy"s of the Union Pacific, number 4018. You can tell by the coupler door and louvers in the nose.
If my locomotive sleuthing is correct, then this picture was taken at the Museum of the American Railroad in Dallas Texas.
Just a wild guess, I'm a narrow gauge train nut. Give me big mountains and small locomotives.
Well... Chris is also trying to push the train... Perhaps there is some sort of game element in which the teams will have to push?

Hi.... No I mean the picture next to dave's signature picture. thats no 4-8-4
in the picture....then again I'm a Pennsy nut ,closest thing they had to that was the T-1.
BTW....who took the thread picture? and note Dave has a camera.
Trains, Stairs, and Poles, but what about the Traffic Cones in the picture? I see two, and I've always thought they could be a game piece. A traffic cone from my perspective represents a circle (top view), triangle (side view) and a square (at the base).
As far as how they would be used? I have no clue, just pointing them out.
...
If my locomotive sleuthing is correct, then this picture was taken at the Museum of the American Railroad in Dallas Texas.
Or to quote citysearch.net - approximately 22 mi or 30 minutes north from Red Oak, Texas, location of the Steamboat Willie Memorial Overpass.
A more formal portrait of the 4018 may be seen at http://www.dallasrailwaymuseum.com/collection.html

You can search some of her posts and will find that she was generous in sharing her wit, humor, and wisdom here in ChiefDelphi. If I remember correctly, some of her artwork found its way to the big screen at the Championship not too very long ago. :)
