1.) Is it permissible to use ball bearings in the construction of the minibot?

2.) Is it permissible to use latches that have small springs in them?

Two answers.

1.) Is it listed in R92?

2.) Only if the energy in the springs comes from the batteries after deployment.

I don't specifically see springs in <R92>, however, surgical tubing and rubber bands do make pretty good tension springs.

We're using the latches to attach the minibot to our main robot. It holds no function in attaching the minibot to the climbing pole.

Jim,

If the latches are part of the hostbot, they fall under hostbot rules (COTS, etc) but if they are part of the minibot, you would have to make them from aluminum, polycarb, etc as per the minibot rules...
