an active spspension can distribute loads to the wheels more evenly and keep all the wheels in contact with the ground at all times. the carpet on the field isin't always perfect and a rigid mecanum bot can loose tracton on on wheel alltogeather. its murder for attonmus

It looks rather passive to me, but unless they have something to make it return to center, they will be dragging a bumper, which means that it is probably active, I hope.
Knowing the fertile minds involved I would be more inclined to think of a switchable mec/traction drive.
