interesting clasp method for the mini bot! if theres any way to add gearing to your design I found the best ratio is 2:1 (two revolutions output : one revolution input)

There is something inappropriately pleasurable about the snap of a mousetrap.;)
Thanks for the suggestion. We guesstimated about a 3-3.5 second run if we added the 2:1 gearing.
Watch the very last part of the minibot video again... and watch the wheel speed
You can catch a glimpse of our minibot 2.0 prototyping.

blessy, is the V2 wheel speed have enough torque to run the minibot up?

Not enough torque in that iteration... The new version is about three times slower than the V2 wheel spin in the video. The students are busy refining V2 bot... hopefully we will be ready for pole climbs and new video by Tuesday or Wednesday.
:)
Looks pretty good!
By the way, did anyone else notice the Lunacy Moon Rock from 1:08 to 1:25? :yikes: :D

Maybe you have an ultralight minibot, but that seems like you wouldn't have much torque at all. Or do you mean after the gearbox on the motor?

New video of Minibot Deployment!!!
Lower Tray on a Lazy Susan: no need for precise alignment of Hostbot-
Minibot mounted back so the lower tray can be deployed before the last 10 seconds!
Mininbot mounted on upper tray goes from outside the platform cylinder to on the pole in about half a second.

yes, the ratio needs a sub 5lb minibot.

Getting ready for Boston.
We had hoped to have this finished for GSR but ran out of time.
(Pole is a bit short and it's on a tether because we were testing the backdriving back down after it hits the target.)
Video slowed down 8 times.
Expect under 2 seconds plus 1/2 second deployment.
ONLY 2.25 lbs!
Need to decide if we are going to cannibalize the 4.2 lb tank to make a second zippy one.
