I was wondering if it is legal to use an original xbox controller in competition. Also if it is legal, since it needs to be modified, does that mean we cannot use it in any other years?

Thanks in Advance,
Andrew

You know, like the predecessor to the xbox 360?

You don't need to modify the controller. You can buy little boards which will plug into the cable at the break-away point then go to a USB connector. It's just a simple PCB w/ 4 traces. (i can't find a link to it any more, but here's a cable... http://secure.llamma.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/64_27/products_id/78)

After that it's just a matter of installing the USB driver and you should be good to go.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use it in this configuration every year.

I have already made an adapter but I thought I saw in the rules that anything modified from its original state was considered part of the robot and cannot be reused.

Are you intending to put the controller on the robot? Or is it just going to be part of the operator console?
