Wow.... that is one heck of a robot and human player. AMAZING throws by the human player. The robot is well from my perspective the best robot I have seen yet this year...

Very unique method of acquiring and scoring tubes 118. It looks really well done!
Stunning. Minibot is also stunning.
Uh... Um... Wow!
Another beautiful robot put out by 118!
One thing that intrigues me, the colored status indicator beacon on the side opposite the manipulator, does that automatically light up the color of the tube the robot is possessing for the driver to know?

See you at Lone Star Regionals. Hope we have you as an Alliance team otherwise....
Great Design. I especially like the use of the glove. To bad we won't get to see it in person at the Lonestar Regional this year.

Should've painted the robot yellow and black and gone with the batman theme. It seems like the wings are primarily there to center the tubes in the roller for the lifting mechanism.
Beautiful robot. Seems fast and efficient.

This was an amazing video! I love how you attached the camera to the 'bot to do shots. Unfortunately our media team didn't get enough time with the robot to do these types of things.
What camera did you mount to the minibot? It must have been a smaller one...

Mindblowing robot! I was wondering why teams weren't making wide roller claws, especially after last years game. I guess no one else was able to manufacture the awesome wings that go with them.

Wow with no week 3 video I was getting a little worried and I guess I was right to worry.
This is a really impressive design. I love the idea of not taking your roller claw up the lift, I imagine that give you a huge speed advantage for your lift. Your minibot is just amazing, that deployment looked so smooth.
See you in a week and than in three weeks, there are going to be some really great Texas regionals this year.

Yes! I love 118 robots. This one may quite possibly be my favorite. So unique! And your human player is epic, our HP will be watching this video a few times no doubt!

Love the glove.

Holy...
It's like when Derek Zoolander revealed Magnum to the world.
Most impressive video of the season so far.
Simply gorgeous.
indubitably
23-02-2011, 11:20
Do you guys actually plan on having the human player attempt to throw it that far in an actual match, because i can not imagine him never hitting the wall.
My jaw litterally dropped when I saw him score one though.
Wow, another great robot from a great team! And that human player... it's one thing to play the game well, quite another to change the game entirely. Good luck this season.:yikes:
this was by far youre best unveil video yet!!!
and the white and gold version is way too classy for its own good.
insanely awesome job!! hope to see you in st. louis!!
I love it.
I think we may have a good Texas shoot out this year. :)

I love the method of obtaining and scoring tubes. Very nice robot. :D

Ok great bot, HP, and minibot! One of the best I have seen! I can't wait to see it this season. Looks like our HP needs to improve a little bit based on yours. I must say really really good job guys.
Four words:
OMFG
Love the camera work on this video. Fantastic.

It looks like you guys went from 6 to 8 wheel drive, any particular reason?
Magic looks incredible. You guys have managed to make what appears to be an incredibly complicated robot function seamlessly. Hopefully I can make it to St. Louis to see it in action!

I believe this is the first time 118 has done 8-wheel drive. I'm really surprised you didn't go 6 wheel crab drive ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4Ki8-NLr6E
Great looking robot ! engineering, design and camera work is top quality as usual. See you guys in a week !

I feel like I justed watched a trailor to a summer blockbuster. Awesome video.
I can promise you that the scouts on my team will be fighting over the joy of scouting your robot. You picked a great year to come to Midwest.

23-02-2011, 13:37
This is the coolest robot I have seen yet.
Also, your team would be at the top of many people's pick list even if your robot was completely broken. The human player changes the game.
Good luck this year. I don't think you'll need it though.

Is this powred by magnets? That is awesome all around I especially like the containment mechanism, Yay elevators. Good luck guys and great work.

23-02-2011, 16:09
Wow, that's mostly all i can say. But what exactly are the wings for? To help hold to tubes in?
Cyberphil
23-02-2011, 16:52
Once again, an incredible robot! I love the idea that the tube grabbing mechanism is separate from the lift and placing mechanism! That is brilliant!
Besides the usual gorgeous water-jetted (I think) robot with all the bells and whistles, I think this will one of the most unique bots this year.
Great job, and I will see you in Florida! :D

I have mixed emotions... I am speechless how the robot turned out. I wish we had those resources. I hate how now we have no chance of winning... I really want to go to St Louis to see this beast in person.

Got a drill, enthusiasim, time and a jig saw? You can build a competetive robot with that.
That^ is not bashing on 118 at all. This is an impressive robot, and I always await seeing what they have to come up with. I LOVE the wings. Robot dance competition?

The most technical or complicated robots don't always win. Simple and effective isn't always better then flashy and complicated. But don't count yourself out, one amazing robot with a poor strategy and or partners, can't beat 3 simple but effective robots with a better strategy. This is why alliance selection in the elimination rounds are so critical.
I hate how now we have no chance of winning...

:ahh: :ahh: :ahh: Ahhhh! 118's coming to Florida?!<franticly rushes to usfirst.org to check> Phew, don't scare me like that man...:o
Seriously though fantastic looking bot this year. I especially love the extra wide tuber-scooper.
Is that a Playstation move controller on the back, or a human player signal, or do you just really like cool shiny lights?
Good luck this season, hopefully we'll get to see ya'll in St. Louis

Holy crap, that looks fantastic!
Robot aside, that's a wonderful piece of video... and that it starts with my favorite quote EVER doesn't hurt.
Good luck -- I know you don't need it!

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. So we will see you at Alamo and Midwest!
But you made a strategic mistake in releasing the video. This robot is so jaw-dropping, opponent drive teams would have been rendered motionless upon first seeing it.
Awesome Robot! Your whole design is extremely sharp.

How does the arm work? How did you guys build it? This robot is jaw dropping!
After watching a video like this, I wonder how much growth my team needs to get to this level. Wow. Stunning...

Wait... What are the "wings for?
Wait... What are the "wings for?
So it can be Batman?
In all seriousness, it seems they're there to cradle/center the tube
ttakashima

Looks like the wings are to align the tubes in the lower gripper so the upper one can take it and score.

Erm i dont want to give it away but its for the hp and one more thing, thats all imma gonna say
Your human player's throw seems almost illegal, but I suppose its probably just the angle... I'll have to try that throw...
That robot looks amazing! I hope we get on an alliance with you guys at the Midwest Regional. See you in Chicago!
Thank the makers you aren't at the Utah regionals.
bobosalad
27-03-2011, 01:35
so i saw a style of throwing in the video that was not implemented during competition... Is everyone trying the overhand throw with the tube vertical?
Peyton Yeung
27-03-2011, 22:30
I see so the ball on the back is how they use magic to dominate...jk that's just their awesome skill and hard work. IT was a pleasure being next to you in the pits at Midwest as well as versing you in the semis:yikes:

It was a pleasure to team with such an amazing robot at Midwest. I can only hope that we are in the same division at St. Louis.

The Blue Alliance (http://www.thebluealliance.com/team/118) begs to differ. Having something to do with one of those two losses, I thought I should point that out. Perhaps you confused them with 148 at Alamo?

They won Midwest. There is an issue somewhere, I suspect FMS.

They won Midwest. There is an issue somewhere, I suspect FMS.I sit corrected. It looks like updates stopped at semi 1-2. Well, then I had something to do with the only alliance to send 118 home early this year.
The video was really cool. The 8 wheel tank drive was very popular at nationals
