How many teams resorted to pulling the gearbox off a Tetrix motor to mate with a Banebot motor? METRoS 2745 needed a matched set of motors for thier tube intake roller system and mated the tetrix transmission with the smallest Banebot motors. Still untested so they don't know how well it will work.

I am curious if other teams resorted to this option due to the lack of timely supply of Banebot transmissions for their motors.

edit: I should have added a DeWalt transmission choice to the poll. Post to this thread if you that or another option with the banebot motors.

we used the FP in a dewalt, and two rs550's in 81-1 transmissions from bane bots.

We put a BB775 into a gutted drill (not DeWalt), a BB550 into a BaneBots 1:256 p60, and 2 BB395s into Black and Decker electric screwdrivers (commonly available for $10). We also put the FP into a 16:1 p60

We are using a Double Doozy from AM

We bought 32DP spur gear/pinion stock from SDP/SI and machined our own gears and pinions to mount the Banebot RS775 motors in custom spur gearboxes.

We mated BB775s to AM Planetary Gearboxes following the ThunderChickens method, and the BB550 and BB540 to two 20:1 P60s we had from two years ago.

The lack of BB gearbox availability really drove our choices.

The Tetrix gearbox is terribly low efficiency on both the Tetrix motor or a Banebot motor.

Conversely, the tetrix gearbox is actually an interesting choice to reduce power output of a motor so that it spins slower without the need to add additional stages. So long as the torque load is nominal, the inefficiency can be used this way. It's like the Robowranglers using 4 traction wheels on the corners of their nonadrive as an advantage.

We have roughly 20 burned out motors from FTC seasons past (4 teams for 3 years now) so maybe we'll muck with this in the offsesaon. Our main offseason project will be custom gearbox design and fabrication, so it should fit right in.

2 RS'550's in a frankenbox that is banebots gearboxes->custom box-> modded window motor gearbox
