10 days until the WM district starts!

Who's ready/excited?

67 can't wait to up the competition at West Michigan after a quarterfinal finish plagued with robot issues at Kettering!

A quick look at 67's FIRST page reveals that despite going to the West Michigan Regional for seven years, from 2001 to 2007, the HOT Team has never won it. This is despite winning numerous regional banners and a world championship in that time span. Now, with the new district system, 67 returns to West Michigan, historically its toughest venue.

Then again, I won't be there. This whole "being an alumnus" thing is a sad development.

I'm very excited! I would agree, West Michigan is one of the most competitive districts, but that's what makes it fun

I can bet there are going to be very skillful alliances formed this year...

Cannot wait to test BOB against everyone after having the two weeks after Traverse City to improve. Lets have some exciting matches and a great time.

1189 is looking forward to our first appearance at West MI! We haven't competed recently with many of the teams there, so it will really be different for us (ESPECIALLY since our robot drives consistently this year  ).

The RoboDawgs [216, 244, and 288] cannot wait to go :D
Good luck to all going, see you in less than 2 weeks.

Don't forget your GP and safety glasses::ouch::

Can't wait to see you all there! This will be our first regional this year so we'll have to see what our robot can do! :yikes:

yeah, for sure! I sure hope they actually have some practice matches going this week, last week they were so far behind that nobody got to practice..

I don't know what caused the delay for the week 1 events, but Waterford went very smoothly until the end of the day on Friday. Several practices were run on Thursday night, and I'd estimate that we were on time +/- 15 minutes for the rest of the event. Hopefully the rest of the events will go just as well.

WEST MICHIGAN DISTRICT FOOD DRIVE

Team 74 Holland Chaos, and Team 107 Holland Christian R.O.B.O.T.I.C.S. will be holding a can food/non perishable food drive at the West Michigan District. We would love to have your team participate with us as we give back to our local community food banks. We are asking each team member from each team to bring an item or two with them to be donated.

We will be collecting the food on Friday morning, prior to opening ceremonies. We will be on the end of the arena where the practice field will be (opposite the pits).

We appreciate your support in advance!
Team 74 and Team 107

To those who do not know, BOB as always is providing free BOB rags (blue shop rags with the BOB logo on them) to those who stop by our pit.

Sounds like a great donation idea. Will it be going on Saturday at all?

Any teams out there who has this week as your first event this season? Are you excited or what?

It's my team's first event this season. I've already been to two, but I'm excited for them. We have a lot of rookies, and I can't wait to see the inspiration on their faces.

107/74, have you emailed the district coordinator about sending out news of the can drive to the team contacts? I just talked to my mom, who's our contact, and she hadn't heard anything about it. ChiefDelphi can't reach everyone :P

I definitely have to remember to stop by and get a BOB rag!

The Food Drive will be Friday and Saturday mornings. We would like to do this prior to opening ceremonies each day so we do not miss any of the game play.

Lane violations are still a big problem. Weird for a week three event IMHO.

Some teams also forgetting their G.P. on field :( . That means even you too adult robocoaches! Everyone should be nice [no yelling at the other teams, it really grinds my gears to see that happening]! Play nice, its not about winning, its about learning and inspiring the next generation to do good and work with robots....

Remember, be safe :D

Found the first day of West Michigan pretty exciting. Love the pushing power on one of the robodawgs except when used against BOB on high-speed mode D:

Was pretty stressful to keep BOB up and running though. I had to make my autonomous work again, we had to replace a compressor that broke, and replace the banebot motor on our claw that got demolished.

Are you meaning the 288 tread bot or the 244 Crab? Both have pretty insane pushing power, but I am sorry you were on the wrong end of it. :D

This is getting interesting! I'm seeing some of my favourite teams and some of my new friends getting up there in rank and learning a whole bunch!

Just wanted to thank everyone COMETS Robotics has competed with so far. It's definitely a much better experience since than Traverse City (going into the competition with a robot we hadn't tested)!

A few thoughts:
Not as many lane violations, but still an issue.
Human player penalties are non-existent
Minibots galore!
*** More GP needs to be seen on the fields - congratulate your alliance members (even if they messed up) and make sure to congratulate the other teams! ***

We were having problems all day, as was probably noticed, but we spent a lot of time on the practice field and I THINK that our minibot deployment works now.

To my knowledge, we are still having problems with one of our solenoids. If anybody knows someone who they would consider a "pneumatics expert" and could send them by our pit, it would be really helpful. One of the robot inspectors was supposed to come by, but he never did.

We totally know what THAT feels like. At Traverse City we had the exact same experience. Advice: Set obtainable goals and have fun

Congratulations go to 2054 for going undefeated through all 12 of its qualification matches! This is an incredibly difficult achievement, especially in a Michigan District, and especially especially with the great level of play seen at today's West Michigan event.

Wow... Finals were epic. Congrats to teams 2054, 67, and 107!

Thanks to teams 27 and 3357 for making this alliance a huge success!!!

Fun fact: since it has become a district, the number one alliance has never won this event.

See you all at state!

Was happy how BOB did when he was working. Our minibot had one dead motor in the match it got up most of the pole and stopped. In our last match the battery was bad. Hoping we can get into state and show the rest of Michigan what BOB can do. Don't want to end this competition season without a minibot going up. Thanks to 141 and 2474 for playing with us.
