How has FIRST been impacted in Japan by the recent tragedy? Are any teams from Japan going to be competing?

To my knowledge, FRC has no teams in Japan.

There aren't? That surprises me. They are so focused on technology!

I do recall an FLL team from Japan last year.

There are more "hardcore" robot organizations. I mean hardcore as in humanoid bots.

Japan has extreme robotic programs literally everywhere. There are several videos of mouse mazes ran by little robots. I don't have the right time to do it now, but I will get some videos up sometime.

Yeah, I know they have FLL I've almost competed against them at worlds last year. I wonder if they will still be around after the tsunami.

But what about FIRST teams?

To my knowledge there has never been an FRC team in Japan.

There are a lot of FLL teams; they hosted a championship invitational (like the LegoLand or European events).

I don't know about FTC.

Japan VEX has been around a few years.

I am fairly certain FRC has not started in Asia.
We have had European , south american , Australia but not from ASIA

Well, Israel is usually considered Asia, and we have more FRC teams than all the other non-North American locations together (48 Israeli FRC teams this year), so I wouldn't say there is no Asia.

Exactly why it should be a low-priority target for FRC.

Do the Philippines count for Asia?
