Our robot radio was configured at the radio kiosk at the FRC Regional that my team went to, and it seems that we can no longer connect in AP mode. Does anyone know how to re- reconfigure the radio for use in AP mode?
You could just reset and re config following the manual.

Follow the directions here (http://usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Game_and_Season__Info/2011_Assets/Kit_of_Parts/How_to_Configure_Your_Radio_Rev_A.pdf) (I suggest you start with a full reset of the radio to default settings per page 5) and you should be back in business...

Just turn off wireless security.
It was set for the competition field with a team specific passcode.

Your radio was setup with a WPA security key at the regional. You can either log into the radio control panel and disable WPA encryption, or like Mk. 32 said, just reset the radio completely and start over.

To save yourself the trouble of going through the entire setup process again just plug a computer right into one of the ports on the back of bridge with an ethernet cable (make sure bridge is in AP mode)
Then open a browser, go to 10.xx.yy.1 (xx.yy being your team number, so im assuming 10.35.56.1 should work for you) username should be admin with no password.
go to manual set up of wireless and either see your passphrase to get onto the network or disable the security all together (disabling would probably be smarter for easy access by you and future volunteers at your next event).

well, completely resetting the radio seems to be the easiest solution, and i'll know what the settings for the radio will be.
Thanks!

Keep in mind that you still have to change the settings after resetting.
Just follow the posted document in the kit of parts website and you'll be fine.

I am figuring that the answer is yes, but do we have to re-configure at a second regional or additional event? Not like it takes a long time, but it would be certainly nice to know if we can skip this step this weekend.
Thanks!
I made a fatal mistake of assuming that the "Save Configuration" on the DLink can be used to restore the configuration of the router. So after we did the field wireless configuration, I "saved" it to a file on the laptop and then resetting and reconfiguring the router to our original setting so the team can still control the robot wirelessly in the practice field. And before our match, I would restore the router configuration to the "saved" field configuration. Boy was I wrong. We ended up totally disabled on our first match because there was no communication. Fortunately, we have a second router. So we now have one router configured to the field and another router configured for practice. We just swap the routers back and forth. Painful lesson to learn.

Yes, the WPA encryption keys are generated at the event and are unique to that event. You should still get your radio reprogrammed at your next event.

We are having similar issues connecting wirelessly to our Dlink radio. After the NY Regionals, we figured that there was something wrong with it because we couldn't connect without having it tethered.
I thought there was something wrong with my laptop and i kept changing the last number of the IP address to see if that was the problem.
So We reset the radio and still cannot get it to work. According to the tutorial, All we have to do is reset again and change the "wireless security mode" on page 7 to get it to work?

Did you make all the settings that are required after a reset?
Security is optional. If you don't know how to use it, then I wouldn't bother with it. I don't use it myself.

I've found that even after resetting the wireless security settings the wireless still doesn't work. This caused our team a great deal of confusion last year. The solution is simply to hardware-reset the device and go from there.

How do you exactly hardwire-reset the radio?
I thought that you could only reset it from behind the radio by pressing the reset button.

That is hardware resetting; software resetting (the existence of which I'm not sure of) would be a button on the computer.

They put on security on your router. Log into the router via plugging in an ethernet cable to it and going to it's IP (which is team # dependent)
For example, I'm team 1072. The IP i have is 10.10.72.1, I believe.
Then, log in, and remove the security.
