I don't know if anyone else noticed but there are no longer any teams on the waiting list for nationals and there are 5 spots open. If anyone wanted in and hadn't gotten to it yet, I would recommend doing so. Just letting you all know.

if there were left over spots, and no EVEN team claimed them do you think FIRST just might open it up to ODD numbered teams? i know this is wishful thinking, but i had to ask.

There's nothing wrong with wishful thinking. They may very well open it up to odd number teams if even number teams don't sign up. There's always that chance.

Hey! Look! There's still 4 spots open for Nationals...sorry...The Championship Event. I can't quite get used to saying that though. They're up to 194 teams. maybe they *will* let odd teams start registering.

It is going to get ugly if odd number teams start to register over just four spots. The difference between being registered would be how fast you can click the refresh button

Hmm...that's very true. I don't know. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well I really don't think they would leave any open spots at the "championship" event. Obviously im more gung ho about the odd teams getting in. But we shall see.

I would think that they would open up those 4 spots to odd numbered teams. I wouldn't see a problem with that.

I have a feeling that IF they don't get filled, they just won't get filled. I'd tend to agree that if they open to the 300+ odd numbered teams, for 4 spots? It'd get kinda brutal.

But then again, at Nats...what if the 4 odd numbered teams feel excluded. We'd be numerically prejudiced, evens in the majority. We'd be susceptable to prejudicial "numerism" where we see the odd teams as inferrior. Then, in another year, the tables would turn. There would be enormous rivalries between odds and evens, formerly brothers and sisters. The entire competition could become polarized. A robotics civil war could break out, and it'd be all because those 4 teams were allowed to register...

Yes, I know, I need sleep. No more talking, or you're all off the team.

I think FIRST is just using different numbers at this time to see how many teams would actually register for the Championship event. After all, they are using a new system, so they don't really know which limit is best for the system. They probably have a range of numbers for the limit due to resources for that huge event...

So, I won't be surprise that, if by the end of December there are still 4 spots left, FIRST just leave that number alone and let there be spaces. After all, consistency is important to FIRST, and the rule is the rule.

It is just the same if in the beginning they set the limit 4 space less.
