We're coming along with all our machines (which we weren't able to use at WI due to a miscommunication) to help out!
I also think 1714 (More Robotics) will come. Can someone confirm? By the way I kept looking for it at WI. I never saw did see it. I did see however a bunch of tubes seeming score themselves when 1714 were supposed to be on the field!:ahh:

Almost except our chain drive last year didn't work and trying to drive mecanum with 2 wheels not working doesn't work very well so we CNCed our chassis this year.

Great to hear 93 is going again... 2518 is bringing the "Kraken" to 10000 lakes.

I am quite excited. I think as much as I would love our team to succeed in the competition, I'm more excited to see the growth in size, maturity, and intellect of the team. If the team behaves with class, interacts with and treats other teams well, and handles every situation in the most mature way possible, I will be more than enough happy with that.
Team 525 Swartdogs had a great time at the Greater KC Regional and are looking forward to playing with all the great teams at 10,000 Lakes next weekend. We are bringing Reptar, our mainbot, and minibots: Lil and Phil.

No doubt that 525 is a robot to watch at 10000 lakes. Can't wait to see the annihilation. 10000 Lakes is going to be very competitive.

What about 2169, 2052, 2500, or 2518?
2169 made it to finals at Lake Superior, 2052 and 2518 made it to semis, and 2500 was at quarterfinals.

Just wondering what yours or another's shortlist for Northstar is.
I'm obviously biased but after our big win in Kansas City with our Swartdog friends from Team 525, we are looking for continued success at North Star next week. We've been working on improving our machine and our code and are looking forward to a great event!
Good Luck to Team 525 across the street at 10K Lakes, you guys will be a force over there, I'm sure.

How's this for a statistic:
2 regional/district winners
2 finalist
3 semifinalist and
5 quarterfinals appearances
And almost 4/5 of the field has yet to be seen this season  !!!
Looks like it's going to be a pretty deep regional and a LOT of fun.:)
Can't wait...
I would not be surprised given the depth of this field to see an upset in the elimination rounds.
My shortlist:
93 525 967 1714 and 2062
Not so dark horses:
141 2052 2169 1806
I will not be surprised to see a lot of successful teams come out of the field though and give some of these teams a run for their money in qualifications and elims.

Glad you had a great time in Kansas City taking away your 2nd win in a row at GKC regional. Good luck in Minnesota, plan on walking across the street and catch a couple of your rounds.

It is ok if they are forgotten; well, it is ok for the teams that aren't facing them... Any team who has the teams listed above in the competitor alliance should practice up. (I guess I have bias) If 2169 works out their comm problems, and everyone gets a little practice, these teams are guaranteed a spot in the eliminations.
The more I think about it the more I realize that this year is going to be one of the most competitive years. Maybe this year the competition will rival that of Texas, Michigan, or the east coast. (Any two uber tube autonomous yet in MN?)

I totally agree that the level of competition here is on the rise and I expect it to continue, but no second ubertube for us yet, just the one. We can't wait to get some more practice in teleop though.

I realized that just in general when taking a quick stroll through the pits in WI on Thursday.
The end result: not one match had a score of 0-0 that weekend. Hopefully this will come as well at 10k Lakes.

At Duluth, there were a decent amount. With the competition at this growing stature, I would assume that SOMEONE could get some form of points, but you never know.
We only have 10 rookies this year.
The countdown starts now! (well maybe about a week ago :) ) See you all there.

ONLY TEN! I'm sorry if that hurt your ears, but when I hear that there are TEN rookies teams at a regional competition I'm thinking that there are enormous new potentials for accomplishing FIRST's goal of inspiring students.
As an interesting side note, it also means we're probably going to be very busy helping out on Thursday... :ahh:

I guess i didn't look at it that way. FIRST is accomplishing its goal ten teams at a time. Well, we too can help the cause. 2518 can help teams out if they need it, just come find us. Every robot is making it to the field.

Jonathan,
The "only ten" comment is because both regionals have had huge numbers of rookies in the past few years. I think last year there were 26 rookie teams in MN, 13 were at 10K (one team was from TN) and 15 at North Star (one team was from WI and another from IL). In 2009, is was 19 at 10K and 18 at North Star.
There are eight at North Star and ten at 10k (according to my count). There were nine at Lake Superior. As far as I can tell, there are no overlapping teams.

True, but I suppose it's all how you look at it because, let's be honest, ten rookie teams at an event is still a lot of rookies.

I see you guys listed in the Northstar event, not 10000 lakes. Maybe our team should breathe a sigh of relief? Congratulations on your great play and teamwork in your win over our #2 alliance in Kansas City. That was a really, really exciting semifinal and you guys did a great job. To everyone else at Northstar, don't underestimate 1939!

Very true, however I believe that our team, due to the schedule of the person transporting our robot has elected to unpack tomorrow. I hope those of you that are unpacking today are enjoying the experience. It is always enjoyable to see the initial unveiling of everyone's robots at an event.

171 has to be on any list. I expect them to get a working minibot for Northstar to go along with their fairly consistent uber auto and a logo a match from Wisconsin. The 5th alliance got a steal with 171 as their 3rd partner.

Great job to the teams at MN, there is no doubt that the competition is growing more and more fierce every year. There were some low matches, there were some ties, and there were some all out grudge matches :) (2518 vs 525 good win to 525). Either way the time was well spent today and the excitement is only going to rise! Good luck tomorrow everyone.

Huh... somehow there's a repeat thread of this, or this is the repeat thread. I suppose it doesn't really matter though...
Anyway, the link to the other thread: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=87362
Edit: After taking a quick look at the dates of the threads' original posts. The other thread was the original but I guess didn't get resurrected until recently? I don't know...

I was the original creator of the thread in preseason to welcome back some great competitors from out of state, and to usher in the new tradition (hopefully) of some new faces competing. I hope some of our newcomers had an enjoyable experience and will return in the future. When I finally noticed this thread it had already accumulated several posts and it had a different more pre-competition feel to it, so I did not feel it necessary to merge the two. I hope that explains everything.
Anyway great competition. I would like to thank our partners in the eliminations 2062, and 2545. We had a great time in the quarterfinals against a very strong alliance of 2518, 1714, and 3630.
Congrats 525, 967, and 3642. And a huge congratulations to 2500 for their chairman's award.

Thanks to all the teams in providing tough competition in true FIRST spirit at the 10,000 Lakes regional competition. Great work by all teams and especially a great crew of rookies. How does MN keep developing so many strong teams? Very exciting matches all the way to the end. A special thanks to Team 3276 for providing the webcast which kept me up to the minute on all the excitement as I had to watch from home.
Team 525 is grateful to Teams 967 and 3642 for completing a fabulous alliance to help carry us all the way through the finals. It was great to partner with another Iowa team and a great rookie team in 3642 and their coach Nate, a former Swartdog. I’ll be anxious to meet the rest of your team in St. Louis.
Great qualifying matches all weekend and tough eliminations all the way through. Sorry to have 2518 on the opposing side this time and I’m still not sure how we pulled the semis out against your tremendous alliance with 1714 and 3630—another amazing rookie. 2705, 2169, and 3765 made a formidable second seeded alliance and 3454 filled in admirably at the end. Congratulations to all.
