As always, the deadline is theoretically Saturday at midnight Eastern. And if you're coming to the Palmetto Regional, you can submit your entry in person--find me in the 2815 pit.

Go!

Yet another team tries the "freshman as robot" trick.

Except that this team opted to use a senior.

The huggies are for whoever stands in front of the robot. They also have one for Billfred, if his team makes it to the finals again.

Check it out, I'll use my Jedi Mind Trick to bring that crescent wrench to my hand.
Hey, if Silent Bob can do it, so can I!

The next ice game: RoboCurling. (However, delivery usually works better if one does not stand on the robot while throwing.)

Here you see a test demonstration of a new method for Walmart employees to stack shelves. Seeing as how only one box of Huggies at a time can be shelved and several other items litter the floor, you can see why this method was scrapped by management personnel as being impractical.

I may be dating myself here, but...

(to the tune of Surfin' USA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF4uldy2QTA))

If every highschool had a FIRST team
across the U.S.A.,
Then Dean would be happy
and we'd be on our way,
You'd see their robots in baggies
or sometimes in a crate,
Some pushy pushy fund-raisers
FIRST in U.S.A.

You'd catch em 'petin at Lone Star (Inside-Outside-U.S.A.)
Minne-ap-o-lis (Inside-Outside-U.S.A.)
Las Vegas and North Star (Inside-Outside-U.S.A.)
Palmetto's Caroline' (Inside-Outside-U.S.A.)
all over Manhattan (Inside-Outside-U.S.A.)
and down St Louis way (Inside-Outside-U.S.A.)

Inspired By Science,
FIRST in U.S.A

(Maybe we can get Will-i-am to sing it!)

Al Skierkiewicz
22-03-2011, 22:44
OK, I admit I was singing the words as I read your post. You knew I would didn't you?

There don't seem to be any motors on that robot so I can only assume that it is powered by "natural gas".:yikes:

350 brings a whole new meaning to "West Coast Drive".

Kyle: "I can imagine us winning all our regionals."
Guy in back: "Well maybe you could imagine a drive train, an electrical board, a working arm and a great mini-bot."

Karibou

Unfortunately, this team did not understand that "the force" is not an appropriate source of power for the robot.

Are you sure this is how Billfred convinces the number one alliance to pick his team at events?

Oh, yeah... totally... *snicker*

Safety factor = Huggie factor when it comes 350's test drive capabilities.

This year, 350 decided to try out a Spiderman-powered drive train. They thought it would allow them to more quickly hang tubes on the aracknid.

As 350 tried to enter the movie business, they were dealt with a very big first assignment, The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Here we go!

First place goes to:

There don't seem to be any motors on that robot so I can only assume that it is powered by "natural gas".

Second place goes to:

Here you see a test demonstration of a new method for Walmart employees to stack shelves. Seeing as how only one box of Huggies at a time can be shelved and several other items litter the floor, you can see why this method was scrapped by management personnel as being impractical.

Honorable mentions go to:

1) EricH
2) Taylor
3) GaryVoshol
4) DonRotolo
5) Aerosound
6) Karibou
7) JaneYoung
8) kramarczyk
9) rsisk

And the burn award goes to:

The huggies are for whoever stands in front of the robot. They also have one for Billfred, if his team makes it to the finals again.

(I now have empirical evidence that this was unnecessary. ;))

Which means the scores are:

Taylor 114
