View Full Version : Scouting photo database anywhere?
I know there are many databases out there of team statistics and scorings etc for scouting purposes. I was wondering if there is a similar database somewhere of robot photos, so that I can have them all laid in our team's scouting program ahead of time. The Robot Showcase is close, I guess, but it only has a few teams, and not all the photos are optimal.

I do not know of one, but that doesn't mean a lot...
There is a photos section on FIRSTObjective.org (http://FIRSTObjective.org), that could be used for this if teams would like to post photos of their robots.
Just a thought...

I have an iPod and there is an app called FRC Tracker 2011. In it is a function that downloads pictures of each teams robot. Some teams have not submitted pictures, but a good number have. Also, if there is wifi at the events, you can update the ranking and match scores. Great tool to use.

That sounds great! But... I don't have an iPod. (or any iDevice, actually) Is there a way to access it without getting the program, or, as another option, if I borrowed someone else's program, could the photos be taken off and loaded onto my computer?
I don't know if this is much help, but when I was on scout team we found most of that on their websites. I know that seems kind of obvious, but it was nice because all the information and pictures for teams were all in the same place. As long as you have the team number, it's easy enough to find them.

I wish you could still view and post robot photos to the blue alliance. Last I checked you couldn't. If I got this wrong someone please correct me! Thanks! :)

FIRSTObjective.org (http://firstobjective.org) now has categories and albums created for teams' photos to be used as a Championship photo scouting tool.
Simply upload pictures to one of the four albums (one for each Championship division). Make sure team numbers are visible or entered in the photo's info.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

There were a few problems with my last post regarding uploading robot pictures to FIRST Objective. Here is the correct information to add photos and that will allow teams to easily find/search for other teams.
Uploading your robot pictures for Championship scouting
Go to FIRSTObjective.org (http://firstobjective.org) and select Photos from the left-side menu
Once you know what division you will be in at Championship - go to "Groups" and join the group of your division
Pick the Upload button and if this is your first time, create an album for your team, otherwise select your album
if creating a new album, enter a name - most likely our FRC team number (this should help searching)
enter a brief description (maybe school, city, etc)
pick a category - right now 2011 scouting database is the only category
review and change any of the changing options if you wish or leave defaults as is
After album is created, use the "Add New Photos" to add robot pictures to your album (add as many as you want)
(a java applet will run)
Select you picture to upload and click the green up arrow to upload the picture
Enter a title for the photo and a tag (use your FRC team number)
enter a caption if you like
feel free to update any other data regarding your photo (Edit Info)
Click "Save Changes"
Finally, to add your photo to the scouting database in the correct division, click on the picture you wish to use as your scouting photo.
Click the "add box" and you will be able to select the group/division you have joined
Click add to complete
To search for a team, use the search box and enter the team number. If teams add their FRC number in the tags, the search should find them.
Sorry for any confusion. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Yes, unfortunately I had a hard drive crash.
Oh no! That's not good. I hope you get it fixed. At our school we had a network update fail causing all the backups and the system to crash. All the data was wipe and only a percentage of it was retrieved a day later. Good luck getting that fixed! :)
