I'm guessing you can start splitting up the teams once the team list reaches 348....
I'll post the standard ACGN sort after 348 teams are confirmed.

as far as I can tell the list is at 348... is it just that it is not confirmed. I am anxious to see what we are up against...

There are now 348 teams on the CMP list. Keep in mind the payment deadline is tomorrow, but anyone on the CMP list already had to commit to pay the event fee in some manner by now in order to appear on the registered list.
So back to the pointless speculating...
Dividing the teams into alternating Archimedes, Curie, Galileo, and Newton divisions and then sorting by Average OPR (as calculated by OPRnet) within each division leads to the following completely baseless, not founded on any truth whatsoever, possible, maybe, not really, just forget about it and wait until the real ones are announced, divisional breakdowns:

this years theoretical Newton reminds me of how everyone called 1114 being on the same alliance as 469. I call 1114 and 148.

I think FIRST should just get to the point and just assign 177 to the Einstein division where they can await an alliance they feel like working with.

Does anyone remember what they have used in recent years?
I know for many years it was the simple 1,2,3,4--5,6,7,8---9,10,11,12...
From my recollection a couple of years ago it went to serpentine...
1,2,3,4-- 8,7,6,5 ---9.10,11,12 --- 16,15,14,13...
I honestly can't remember what was done last year...

Last year there was either no pattern or it was complex enough that nobody was able to crack it - the assignments seemed pretty random.

I'm sure FIRST did the math. They always do the math. Just not math humans use.
It was probably given to them from NASA from the aliens so we'd quit predicting the divisions before they release it.

I think FIRST should just get to the point and just assign 177 to the Einstein division where they can await an alliance they feel like working with.
177 is far too good this year to even escape the first round. And for that reason, I think they have their lowest shot at Einstein in years. :p

We'd move up to 7th and probably 6th or more if that were a ranking list. It would be a Team IFI Royal Rumble.
The divisional balance is far, far more skewed out of whack with serpentine than with the standard sort. I kinda liked the standard sort myself. But again, this is all a pointless exercise!
How about instead of doing the divisions with the 348 teams that are in, do a divisional breakdown with the top 348 OPR teams and then see how the divisions would breakdown with the same sort you did the first time.

Probably about as balanced as you're going to get.

I sorted by Average OPR for all 348 CMP teams and then assigned A-C-G-N.
I think what you are suggesting is just a bit too unrealistic, even for this thread, because teams staying home with higher OPR's than CMP participating teams are still not going to attend the CMP this year....
I leave anything else as an exercise for the reader. :cool:

Newton and Curie both are stacked! As for Galileo...I'm surprised by the paucity of big names. It seems like most of those powerhouse teams are either on Curie or Newton, although Archimedes is also strong. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it seems like Galileo is probably the "weakest" comparatively; however, that doesn't mean much considering it's championship and ALL of the divisions would be challenging.

if these divisions were real... i think we all know where the crowd will flock to... especially if serpentine... can first just have a team IFI division plus the rookies? that might just balance out their average opr...

All Pokemon jokes aside, there is an extra team in there... strange... maybe the Black Eyed Peas aren't performing but they are going to be a drive team! There are 4 of them :)

That explains why I was hearing that tune coming from the Chicken camp last weekend. I thought it was a bit odd timing for some retro right before alliance selections... :cool:
Oh, and its a good thing they went to night to switch fields. Could you imagine the awesomeness flux of the above group having to switch fields midday? any team using a Gyro would likely have to re-calibrate.

There should be some additions to the divisions early next week. I know one team in particular that could be a late addition.
