View Full Version : [FF]: Championship 2011 Free-For-All Draft
Billfred
21-04-2011, 21:15
After a year's absence, it's time to bring back the Championship Free-For-All draft! (Props to Joe Ross for inventing the format.)
You can pick any three teams competing at the 2011 Championship, however you can not pick the same three teams that someone else has picked. (So if I pick 11, 148, and 2815, you can still pick 11, 148, and 217...but you can't do 11/148/2815.)
Of note:
Standard Championship Fantasy FIRST scoring will apply.
Cross-division picks are perfectly fine.
When listing your picks, put them in ascending team number order. (11/217/2815, not 2815/11/217.)
Place your picks on the list sorted by your first team's number, then your second, then your third. (So 11/148/217, then 11/217/2815, then 16/20/45.)
The deadline for picks is midnight Wednesday night Eastern, measured by the CD forum clock.
Your last pick is the one that gets scored.

With all that out of the way, I'll begin with....

Haven't been on CD in a while... so I'll pick 33, 245 and -- what the heck, let's keep the MI trend going -- 217.

I think point 4 needs to be clairified because it confused me and the last two posters did not follow it.
Since Q's lowest team is 33, which is lower than Billfred's 111 and my 359, he is on top of the list.
Q. Sheets: 33/217/245

Akash and Billfred both have 111, so it goes to the second team. Since 148 is lower than 1114, Billfred is first.

"Standard Scoring" would be a reference to the Season Long scoring system. W-L-T, 2-0-1 points. Seeding is 20 for 1st seed, 12 for second and third, 6 for the rest of the top 8, 3 for 9-12, and 2 for anybody else at or above 16. Then the awards change to:
Quarter finalists – Division, 5 points
Semifinalists – Division, 10 points
Finalists – Division, 15 points
Divisional Winners, 25 points
Finalists - Einstein Field, 40 points
Winners - Einstein Field, 50 points
Chairman’s – Nationals, 80 points
Engineering Inspiration Award – Nationals, 45 points
Rookie All-Star, 25 points
Rookie Inspiration, 20 points
Woodie Flowers/Judges, 15 points
Dean’s List, 8 points
Highest score / Highest Rookie Seed, 10 points
Robot based award, 25 points
Non-placement award, except previously mentioned, 10 points
Coopertition Award, 15 points

I didn't win, I don't think, but I did take the boldest risk with 3138, and that paid off nicely. Go Innovators!

First glance says Ed probably did with a chairmans and champion
First glance says Ed probably did with a chairmans and champion
As did I Kevin. I think if it comes to the two of us, Ed will win (67 won an extra match in eliminations) unless 1114 had a Dean's List winner and 67 did not.
67 also has a better seeding score, but the Dean' List will still best that.

Just a note, I'm scoring this as we speak. (Even at the expense of the caption contest!)
The scoring I get. Kevin or Billfred, if you want, I can send you the excel file.

I don't have a list of the Dean's List teams so here is the scoring without them
Ryan, looks like yours is missing the 10pt. High Score for the teams that put up the highest qual score in each division.

For Dean's List I didn't see any from any of the teams picked: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1058354&postcount=21

My numbers don't quite jive with that (you can look at my spreadsheet as linked earlier), but we agree on two things: Dean's List had no effect on scoring, and Koko Ed won it.
Two other notable things:
1) Of the 24 players, only 17 unique teams were picked.
2) Of those 17 teams, a perfect set would've been 254 (125 points), 2016 (94), and 359 (92).
Congrats, Ed!
Billfred, looks like you may have 233 with the wrong point total for qualification wins.
Also, I think one outstanding question is if the high score is how the high score is given points: Only qualifications? Only one for the entire competition?

The entire alliance gets high score points. IIRC, it's only given for qualifications.

For entire competition, I was meaning are there four alliances (1/division) or one alliance.

Oh, right. It's one per event, and SLFF counts each division as a separate event.

I had the wrong high score for Curie and Galileo. RMiller's sheet is updated and correct now. I don't feel like fixing my previous post right now.

This includes 4 alliances for High Score (one from each division during quals).
