2 days and counting
Good Afternoon Teams,
I flew into St Louis and didn't run into any issues at the airport. I’m in the dome right now where the crew has marked out the fields and have started to hang lights and speakers.
If we can keep to the schedule, all 8 FRC fields should be unloaded and ready to set up tomorrow. The America’s center is already filling up with pits and Robots are beginning to arrive.
I’ll be blogging, facebooking and tweeting throughout Championship. (When I can find the time.) You can find my blog here http://frcdirector.blogspot.com/ , I’m on facebook as Bill Miller FRC Team and I tweet as FRCTeams. I’ll try to remember to use #FRCCMP when I tweet.
NASA will be live streaming the field action here http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/robotics/
and HEC-TV in St Louis will be airing FIRST Championship ‘LIVE FROM ST LOUIS” Friday 9:00am-11:30 & 2:00-3:30 and Saturday 3:30pm-6:00pm http://live.hectv.org
Just hours left until Championship
See you then!

One issue I see for telling people where to watch from home is the broadcast naming convention. If the links say FRC FLD #1, etc. how will you be able to tell folks at home which field you'll be on.
I know Galileo is Stadium/Pits/Stadium, but is there a list stating which number field each division is playing on each day?

Each field has a banner with the field name on it which we are required to bring along with the field crew. Additionally, usually the feeds themselves have the field name printed in the bottom center of the feed - I don't think it will be too difficult once it gets up and running.
Can't wait! CMP is gonna be fun! :D
I noticed the handing line array (speakers hanging) appear to be pointing 90 degrees away from the closet field. Also, the big black drape furthest from the person who took the picture appears to be a screen of some sort.
PS. I don't want to turn this thread into flame war, thus I'm not making any assumptions about what this all means.

(Hopefully, FLLs documents are up to dated)

It's nothing new though. The screen where you can see the back is the Einstein screen, its the only one that big. Also, the rounded truss that is already up is the stage, and that is always near Einstein. The only thing that looks different is one field rotated 90deg. Otherwise, same as usual -

Okay, so more than a third of the Dome floor is open (some kind of stage) and we have two fields in the pits? This is ridiculous.

Does anyone have this document such that the font is actually legible? Opening it in Chrome's pdf viewer all of the text looks like crap and I can't read it.

Here's a better copy of the pit section of that map:http://usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Events/2011/2011_FIRST%20CHAMPIONSHIP_Load_in.pdf
Unfortunately there is no specific team numbers assigned to individual pits (yet), except for FLL.

Bill has blogged again today with two more pictures (I don't think this little information requires a new thread) http://frcdirector.blogspot.com/2011/04/more-pictures.html
The entrance to the pits:

One of the bleachers in the pits:

If the load-in map is correct, then that is a picture of the east bleachers on the Newton (Thurs & Sat) field.

I would agree because in another picture you see the same kind of orange curtain with some crates from Newton.

I think there will be.
Looking at the floor plan for the Convention center there looks to be at least two other entrance areas to the exhibit halls. My guess is that they are trying to use that as a "Main Entrance" from the Plaza Entrance to the Dome/Convention Center.

Yes. In Atlanta there were many entrances, but there was one main entrance to the pits.
