After my team's struggle this year to put together a telescoping lift system in a sensible, affordable way, the following Kickstarter project (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/93832939/makerslide-open-source-linear-bearing-system) caught my eye. In short, the creator wants to raise money to develop an open-source, simple linear bearing system that should end up cheaper than the alternatives currently available, and compatible with millimeter t-slot aluminum extrusion to boot.
I figured I would share this here to help the cause out, since he seems to be focused on marketing it to the maker crowd for plotters and CNC machines, but it would work nicely for many of our tasks as well here in FIRST.
