View Full Version : Reprogram Dlink after competition for practice
How do you reset the D-Link to use it for practice after competitions. The settings on the D-Link seem to change after every competition so we can't hook it up to our Wireless Router for practice. Anyone have the same problem?

If you are using the DLink at home in Bridge mode to connect wirelessly to a router, then you probably just need to give both the same WPA security code.
You can connect via Ethernet cable directly to the DLink and browse to the wireless security settings to create your own personal code.
At competition the DLink is given a personal security code for use only on the Field.
You can also change the DLink to the AP setting if you want to do without the router altogether and connect directly to your Classmate or laptop wirelessly.
You still need a common security passcode though.
You can also follow the How to Configure Your Radio (http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Game_and_Season__Info/2011_Assets/Kit_of_Parts/How_to_Configure_Your_Radio_Rev_A.pdf) directions to setup your DLink.

Another option is to simply disable WPA security, avoiding the hassle.
The router-free method is the way to go! Very convenient.
I followed the steps given by US FIRST so I disabled the WPA key. Since I reset the Radio, do I need to do anything in terms of the code for the cRIO or do I just hook it up directly to the classmate? Also, what do I set the IP address as for the classmate if I want to go wireless to the D-link? The current IP address for the D-Link is 10.2.1.1 and the default gateway is 10.2.1.4

There aren't any code changes as far as the cRIO is concerned.
It just connects via the Ethernet cable directly to the DLink.
It's easiest to just let the Driver Station set the wireless IP address (it gets set to 10.2.1.9) through the Setup tab's Choose NIC... selection.
The default gateway is generally left blank in our case, since we aren't running a gateway.
One of the problems someone else just had was getting the Driver Station application to use the wireless rather than the Ethernet port, so you may have to fiddle with it a bit. It may require turning off the Ethernet port until it finds and recognizes the wireless port.
I'm kind of stuck right now. This is what I have done so far:
1. Reset D-Link and change IP Address to 10.2.1.1
2. Disable WPA key
3. Plug in D-Link Radio into Robot
4. Go to the classmate/drivers station software
5. Click on setup
6. "Choose NIC"
This is what I'm not too sure about. It gives me 2 boxes-Wired and Wireless. Each box has two options. Is there a step that I am missing or what exactly do I have to do next to connect the classmate to the Radio as an access point instead of using the radio as a Bridge?

2531 RoboHawks had the same problem and i am the tech person and what i had to do was set the IP address on the computer to 10.2.1.4 and that should work. worked for us.
good luck
