How many competition arenas will be at EPCOT this year? Thanks.

Don't know. But dean did tell us (NJ regional) that there will be 4 arena's, (8 fields) next year. (Unless I misheard him, Wasn't in the arena, was in the pits at that particular moment)

There's only going to be 2 arena's this year, meaning 4 fields, when I last talked to Brian at the Jersey regional.

Can I ask where you heard that there was only going to be two stages, because
I wouldn't think so after what the promise was made by Gres Hale (I think)
He promised as long as we brought the teams they would make it bigger and better
and this year with the biggest number of teams I just don't see how they could
reduce the stages from three to two... I was relly expecting either three or four.

Just another thought!

I was told by Brian Farmer on the FIRST staff at the Mid-Atlantic regional that there was only going to be 2 stages. Granted this could have changed since then, I highly doubt it seeing how little time there is before nationals.

Let's do a little math to see how it works out:
last year: 3 arenas, 2 fields per arena, 3 bots per field, for a total of 18 bots (assuming all of the matches were at play at once, which doesn't happen)
ends up being about 9 at a time, with 6 bots on deck per arena for the next matches

this year: 2 arenas, 2 fields per arena, 4 bots per field, total 16 bots max possible
8 robots in play at one time, 8 on deck per arena

i think it helps the logistics out to have 2 arenas instead of 3, but visibility is going to be an issue from the nosebleed section. not even the video feed will be visible...
and with the touchiness of the scoring in this game, well, let's just hope the refs are getting faster at scoring matches...

Does anyone know what the statistics per regional have been, let me expand
this thought. Has there been 82 matches per competition or not, I guess
what I am asking for is the logistics of each one. For example does the
number of matches equal, the teams times something else, i am just a little
puzzled so if anyone has some answers maybe we can figure out how many matches
there will actually be!

Next Jon from team 190 that was great I only wish there was a third field,
because then there would be 12 teams on deck and 12 actually playing,
we would really have enough matches then, I think?

If anyone has a possible formula for figuring the numbers out, please post
a reply so that I may see why people have determined that there will only
be 4 matches, when I thought FIRST said that there will be at least 5. And
I know there must be a formula because every regional had a different number
of Q-matches. So in closing send me a email or post a reply if you have
an answer or a formula!

I don't know of any formula for the number of Q-matches, but at Jersey there were 37 teams, 90 matches, and each team got 10 each. I was told by Brian Farmer while I was at that regional that there was going to be only 4 Q-matches in Florida.

Using the temp-logic courtesy of Mike Kulibaba of #88 TJē, it comes out to 37*10/4=92.5 so it's close... i don't know how to fix it though...
working from memory, i believe the number for Philly was around 83 (+/-2) rounds with 60 teams (on the roster), and i think 6 matches (right?) so it comes out to 60*6/4=90 so it's around there...
as for Hartford, 41 teams (roster again) and 8 qms (?) 41*8/4=82!

it's good but it doesn't account for time consumption which is an issue with 200+ teams...

At Hartford there were 82 qualifying matches and 41 teams. Each team
had 8 qualifying matches.
