This is shaping up to be a very powerful off-season competition!
Sam and Oliver, use the email in Andy's post to get in contact about volunteering.
Sorry I missed GSR's rookie all-stars. There really are a lot of regional winners, award winners, and teams that are just fun to watch and compete with.

I can't believe buzz may not be coming!
That's what I thought when I saw the list!
At least they wouldn't be able to knock us out of a tournament for the 3rd time this season!
This looks like a pretty All-Star line up! I know I'm looking forward to it, this is sure to be a great comp!

Now that there's more teams involved, I wonder if they'll finally allow picking inside the top 8 at RR...

Personally, I am not a fan of picking within the top 8. I prefer a more competative playoff.

Picking in the top is is extremely lame when there are only about 2 GOOD teams and 4 decent teams and the rest horrible. With the level of play at RR this year, whether you pick in the top 8, don't pick in the top 8, or Great Pumpkin (as we will be doing), the alliances will be top notch either way.
Will make things interesting if first round of Great Pumpkin leaves all the powerful teams behind!

And to add a little more excitement to River Rage this year, some of the teams with Beta kits will be doing live testing for FIRST using the Kinect Controllers.... so those of you joining us will get a preview of whats coming at you this year.:)

The only problem is that some teams will purposely lose their last matches to drop out of the top 8, so they can be picked to a top 3 alliance.

The Kinect "buttons" didn't seem to work (running Java on the cRIO) today, but we have Dominic driving the robot in sort of a "fly" by wire approach.

On behalf of AIR Strike team 78 i would like to say that River Rage was as always an amazing event! The entire team had a great time as every year and made the back through the blizzard that only lasted until we hit boston when it turned to rain =D .
I would also like to thank the great pumpkin and team 1519 for picking us as the first overall pick and team 1073 for joining our alliance! You guys were amazing to work with and it was a pleasure to do so and hope we can again sometime in the future!

I would like to thanks everyone that braved the weather and made River Rage a great event. To those outside of this storm path, OMG you missed one heck of a storm.

John,
I'd like to echo your sentiments. I'm glad everyone made it home safely!

In case anyone is interested, Rosie and Aces High shared a bus and what normally was a 2 1/2 hour ride turned into 6 hours. Power is still out in Agawam and Windsor Locks/Suffield for the most part (Over 60% in Agawam, over 80% in Windsor Locks and Suffield) in now what is the 4th day.
But, I digress, R^2 was and still is a great time! Kudos go out to organizing committee and the Little Elf for doing a great job, again.:D

In the words of 1058's captain, it's "The best time I've ever had at a robotics competition." Thanks for the great day!
This was a great event. It was great to give new drivers a chance to drive in a competition and watch them improve as the day went on.
Is it kickoff yet?
