View Full Version : [FF]: 2012 Season Long Fantasy FIRST!
Ed, when did you want to run Gull Lake?
I'll do it Sunday night @ 7pm.
I'll do it Sunday night @ 7pm.
In that case, I think I'm going to need to move up the waiver deadline a bit.
I was going to have the deadline there the night Gull Lake ran, but due to lots of teams, and running low on time to finish the remaining set, I'll take waiver claims (new and updated) up until midnight EST Saturday night. The next waiver will be up in time for anybody picking in Gull Lake to take a break and look at the available teams.
There's 36 teams for Gull Lake but to be fair I'm gonna do two separate drafts.
Something I need to say:
Through Week 5, which is as far as I've gone with the checking for new/missing teams (which leaves the six Week 6 events), every single playing team has at least one missing team, myself included. Flippin' the Greatest has the most, with six missing teams (second is a tie with 5 teams--ProgramLuke and Koko Ed). Dodar only has one missing team... but came up on the short end of two double picks. I'm the only one with one (missing a team in Mt. Olive).
That was the bad news. The good news? None of those missing teams are in Week 1 (besides the ones being drafted in Gull Lake Sunday night). Only one (B.O.T, Chesapeake, 87) is in Week 2. This means that all players have time to make changes before the lists lock. Once the lists lock, you get a random team. If you make a change before then, you get to pick your replacement team, even ensuring you get them off of waivers.
I will be posting a full list of teams needing replacement here when I run the waivers this week.
OK, I lied. I figured I might as well finish up hunting down missing teams. Expect a very large waiver to show up on Sunday.
Don't shoot the messenger!

The final waiver before events begin has been posted. It's a large one, with claims due by the time lists lock.
I've updated the scoring sheet with the current alliances. Red cells denote missing teams; orange cells denote double-picked teams that need to be swapped out. http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2619 (make sure to grab the one that says "Updated"--it's an older file format so everyone can read it).
I'm going to repost the missing teams list, just to make sure the lists are the same in both threads. Falcon and Nemesis cleared their lists; Shoelace and Dodar made some progress.

Cant re-pick if none of the drafts are on the list
It's about that time again. Time to start locking the lists.
Week 1 events should be considered locked as of now; see the most current scoring sheet posted for your teams. All other drafts are still open to trading teams or replacing missing teams.
Scoring may be a bit slow this year. I've got something that will keep me mostly off the computer for a week. If someone wants to jump in and do the team scoring, I'd be most grateful (and will be more than happy to point you in the direction of some past methods if you so desire).
There are no waiver teams; waivers are now closed and all unpicked teams after Week 1 events are free agents. Have at them.

Basic warning, when you're taking a team to fill a hole, make sure they're listed as attending on the FIRST site. I might not have gotten them marked as absent earlier.
See you all when scores are posted, or in the MAR/MSC championship drafts!

Hey, guys; I'm working now on the rough scoring so far for Week 1 (excluding for the moment the Israel Regional).
Question for you guys: Would you guys want teams earning Coopertition points getting 1 (or maybe 2) FF points per coopertition point?
-Kyle J.
While ultimately I think the decision is Ed's, I want to say yes. If we award points for wins and ties, we should award points for CP (both being factors that go into seeding). I would suggest 1 FF point for each CP? Reasoning: 1 to 1 makes winning and coopertition equal, which how the game works. On the other hand, post-drafts may not be the best time to change how scoring works.

Raw scoring by regional for Week 1 in Fantasy FIRST. I have not calculated for each FF team their own individual FF scores, just in case of errors.

Fixed it; thanks for telling me. Updated file in CD-Media.
I've got most of the scores ready to go; however, I need to a) replace 4 teams that didn't show up to the event and weren't caught earlier and b) get the elimination W-L-T scores added in (they weren't earlier).
Currently, it looks like there's a pack of 4 FF teams close together at 75-1005 points each, followed by almost everyone else spread out a bit, and a couple trailing way at the end in the 600-625 range. We'll see how that changes...
OK, dealt with the 4 missing teams from last week (and two this week) and figured I'd get this out here.
Note: I don't have the elimination W-L-T points figured in. They should be, but aren't. I'm working on it, but slowly. Once I get them all set, I will put them in.
That said, here are the Week 1 scores:
Nemesis (Dr. Theta) 1013
Falcon (EricH) 1005
Shoelace (Basel A, Nikeairmancurry) 988
Flippin' the Greatest (Akash, Chris, XaulZan, JackS) 975
CircuitRunners (ghostmachine360, Wing,iPenguin) 918
ProgramLuke (ProgramLuke) 871
1676 (Hallry) 799
Dodar (dodar) 769
Untouchables (Tyler Olds, EricLeiferman) 738
191 X-Cats (Koko Ed) 704
Awesome (Duke461, O'sancheski) 625
B.O.T (Cody Burd) 612
(Proving that #1 pick isn't always the place to be...)
I need help.
Right now, besides factoring in elimination W-L-T records in Week 1, I have to do most of Week 2 and just about all of Week 3. I also have to concentrate on schoolwork.
So, here's where I need help: I need people to go through and score teams at events. It doesn't take very long to do an event; I'd prefer it if the pattern from http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2463 (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/../media/papers/2463;) was used with an added column for Coopertition points, but I'll take just about any format at this point. You can email it to me at eric (dot) husmann (at) mines (dot) sdsmt (dot) edu
The events I need scored: Week 2, other than Orlando and Toronto East; Week 3, except Chestnut Hill (already taken care of), and the Week 1 elimination W-L-T records need to be added in.
If you decide to take on one or more events, it would be helpful if you posted which events so we don't double up on effort.
I'll be running through WPI next, then Los Angeles. We'll see how many more I can do.
Also, one note, more for Ed than for anyone else: 3789 jumped from Cascade to Olympic. Ed has first crack at them in Olympic, but will need to replace them in Cascade.
There are also a number of FF teams with missing or double-picked teams in Week 4.
Dodar: 2449 (Arizona) and 2151 (Midwest) are double-picked.
Flippin' the Greatest: 375 (Hawaii), 693 (Boston), and 3115 (Niles 2) are missing; 4074 (Palmetto) is double-picked.
ProgramLuke: 2353 (Colorado) and 2984 (Olympic) are missing.

Just replace the escapee with another random team.
Looks like I get to repeat myself.
I need people to step up and score one or two events, or more, or I'll never get done in time for the Region Championships (MI and MAR) and the Championship. And, with the Championship draft order being decided based on the points order from the regular season, not having the scores in in time means inaccurate draft orders.
So, here is what I need in order of priority:
1) W-L-T record for eliminations only from San Diego, Israel, Kettering, Hatboro-Horsham, and Gull Lake. I get those, I can finalize the Week 1 results (I've been finding some point jumps due to eliminations).
2) Full scoring for any district events after Week 1.
3) Full scoring for any non-district events after Week 1 other than Orlando, WPI, Los Angeles, and GTR-E.
Full scoring of an event should take about half an hour; the toughest part is digging out the elimination W-L-T correctly.
There also a few known missing teams from Week 5 events. I'll issue the reminders for those after the events finish tomorrow.

Flippin' the Greatest: Long Island 287, Troy 3609
Awesome: Oklahoma 2773, Dallas West 2583
Dodar: Dallas West 2345
Shoelace: Livonia 4405, Mt. Olive 2234
B.O.T.: Mt. Olive 2559
If you're missing a team, I'd really appreciate it if you either replace them or tell me that you want a random early--the earlier you say "random", the earlier I can assign one and forget all about it until scoring.
Also, I'd appreciate it if people started looking at their alliances in Las Vegas--8 teams that were drafted are not attending, and one of the teams on the available list has dropped out as well. So if folks start looking now, it'll save us all a ton of time and trouble later.

We'll take a random for Conn
Random team assigned.
Quick note: If you're having trouble with the scoring template from last year, I got some help from MOE's league with scoring Chestnut Hill and Lenape. They made some suggestions, so I incorporated them into a revised sheet, which is posted at http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2655.
Also, any event is fair game to score other than the above-mentioned districts and the MI districts (taken by one of the league members). If you have half an hour to an hour, feel free to score an event that you like and send me the score sheets.
I will do my best to have the MI and MAR scores posted up before those areas have their championships (Week 7) so that everyone can see how their favorite teams actually did.

Yeah. Scoring the way week one was scored is taking waaaaaaaay too long. I just want to enter relevant information that actually affects coring, Not teloperated points, bridge points and hybrid points.

Random
Anybody who uses the spreadsheet I posted last night:
The spreadsheet counts RI twice if given, and quality zero times. I will post an updated version later tonight to correct this; the reasonably astute Excel users can make the fix themselves (it isn't hard to do).
I've posted a corrected version. Now to finish scoring...
Ok, here is the status on scoring.
With Week 5 wrapping up tomorrow, I've scored through most of Week 2, and a couple of events in Week 3. I've got one volunteer dealing with Michigan; I should be able to finish off MAR scoring tomorrow and post that as a spreadsheet during next week. Hopefully, the Michigan scoring will follow (or if that volunteer could drop Waterford my way, I can finish Week 2).
There's just one problem--well, two actually.
The easy one is, there are a bunch of teams missing in Las Vegas. Koko Ed, Awesome, Flippin' the Greatest, ProgramLuke, Shoelace, and Untouchables are all missing at least one team. If you want random, first one to speak gets the first random team. Otherwise, I get to sort that out during Week 6 scoring.
And the harder one: 7 events in Week 3, 12 events in Week 4, and 13 events in Week 5 are not scored. (It'll be 14 in Week 5 tomorrow, but I plan to take care of Mount Olive.) There will be a further 6 events in Week 6. And we still have to draft for MSC and the MAR Championship (Week 7) and the Championship itself (4 divisional drafts). And I'm still dealing with Week 1 elimination rescoring.
That said, I do have a quick scoring update for up through Week 2. Missing one event (Waterford) there, and bearing in mind that not all the Week 1 eliminations have been included, the current standings (without scores) are:
Flippin' the Greatest (Akash, Chris, XaulZan, JackS)
Falcon (EricH)
Nemesis (Dr. Theta)
CircuitRunners (ghostmachine360, Wing,iPenguin)
Dodar (dodar)
Shoelace (Basel A, Nikeairmancurry)
Awesome (Duke461, O'sancheski)
ProgramLuke (ProgramLuke)
1676 (Hallry)
191 X-Cats (Koko Ed)
Untouchables (Tyler Olds, EricLeiferman)
B.O.T (Cody Burd)
For a closeness indication: the top 3 are all within 120 points of each other and 200 points away from the rest of the pack. They've also pulled two consecutive weeks over 1000 points per FF team. The next three are within 70 points of each other, and have a 100-point gap to the rest of the pack.
Tomorrow, I plan to finish off the Week 1 elims and start in on Week 3 scoring. If anybody would like to help, drop me a PM or CD email with what event(s) you'd like to score. Scoring takes about half an hour per event, including scoring all the FF teams.

we will take randoms for any teams we are missing for any event that we are missing teams
Scoring update: I've taken care of most of the Week 1 issues, and I now announce that the MAR scores are posted at http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2660.
As a reminder, MAR will need to draft sometime between now and a week from Wednesday, whenever the event is mostly filled. (Ed, did you have a date in mind?) MSC will likely be run at the same time.
Las Vegas: There are enough available teams to fill all the remaining holes. Barely. First come, first serve, otherwise I go by draft order. (I also discovered that Nemesis is missing a team there.)

I can't make a rock solid date til the team list gets posted.
Well, I can't issue the MI scores until I get them. *poke poke* Anyways...
I've scored Week 3, sans MI. (Week 2 is also sans MI; Week 1 MI elim scores are next up on my target list.) Again, no point values. But, the order is...
Flippin' the Greatest (Akash, Chris, XaulZan, JackS)
Falcon (EricH)
Nemesis (Dr. Theta)
Shoelace (Basel A, Nikeairmancurry)
CircuitRunners (ghostmachine360, Wing,iPenguin)

The top 5 are all over 3000 points; Flippin' the Greatest has a 200-point lead currently. But, 200 points in a matter of 3 weeks +3 events isn't all that hard to make up...and the #2 and #3 spots are only separated by 4 points.
Speaking of 4 points, I have been unable to locate the team for one of the Virginia Dean's List winners. If someone has knowledge of which teams had said winners, I would much appreciate knowing that information.

Was anything for Hawaii ever posted by FIRST?
Was anything for Hawaii ever posted by FIRST?
At one time, it was. I'll try to get there via frclinks--the FIRST site seems to be down temporarily in that section, but frclinks gets through just fine.
FYI, Week 1 MI events have had their eliminations added in. No changes other than point spread. Hopefully I can get a couple Week 4 events scored later today, and keep going from there. (Maybe Hawaii...)
Edit: Nope, not Hawaii. Awards and match results are there, but not standings. If someone wanted to regenerate the standings, and more importantly the qualifying scores, that would be much appreciated.
Edit 2: Never mind! frclinks gets you to the awards and match results; the FRC site route gets you the standings. Hopefully they can get the rest of it working...
And, after a long afternoon of scoring during free time, I have one more week to do and I *might* be caught up. So, with Week 4 scored other than the MI districts, the current rankings are:
Nemesis (Dr. Theta)
Flippin' the Greatest (Akash, Chris, XaulZan, JackS)
Falcon (EricH)
Shoelace (Basel A, Nikeairmancurry)
1676 (Hallry)
CircuitRunners (ghostmachine360, Wing,iPenguin)
Dodar (dodar)
ProgramLuke (ProgramLuke)
Untouchables (Tyler Olds, EricLeiferman)
Awesome (Duke461, O'sancheski)
191 X-Cats (Koko Ed)
B.O.T (Cody Burd)
The top three are within 111 points of each other and just about 400 points ahead of everybody else.
Oh, and anybody who was at Buckeye: 228 can't have earned the Safety award due to not attending. Anybody know who did?
Good news is, I'm just about entirely caught up! Just need those last few MI districts (and I might start tackling those too).
So, here are the current scores and standings and all that...
Flippin' the Greatest 1097 1270 1074 1437 1390 6268
Nemesis 1149 1148 955 1717 1269 6238
Falcon 1085 1244 941 1588 1248 6106

Shoelace 1098 956 1099 1317 1344 5814
Untouchables 766 1026 902 1529 1320 5543
CircuitRunners 1026 1126 968 1235 1168 5523
ProgramLuke 941 977 1000 1401 1180 5499
Dodar 827 1261 660 1606 1051 5405
Awesome 683 1263 872 1327 1255 5400
191 X-Cats 746 1081 745 1415 997 4984
B.O.T 656 1001 548 1092 777 4074
Note that these scores do not include any MI districts after Week 1, and I'm missing 1 Dean's List winning team in Virginia, 2 Dean's List winning teams in Washington, DC, and 1 Safety Award in Buckeye (14 points all told).

It was 2228, I was watching.
It was 2228, I was watching.
Well, nobody had 2228, so no changes to the scores.

Glad we're living up to our name. :)
OK, so I finished off Michigan. One more weekend, then it's drafting time again, with MSC and the MAR Championship happening in Week 7.

You spoke too soon, Chris.
Michigan scores should be up later tonight, along with the full scoring sheet after I polish off distributing random teams.
Interesting trivia: the 5 weeks scored so far represent 2,886 individual teams at events. Some teams do multiple, some do single, but they're all accounted for.
Other notes: Some of the slots on the full scoring sheet will show a replacement team when I didn't announce any issues. In those cases, a team either failed to show up or was discovered to be a double pick during scoring. The replacement was the first team on the random list; in cases where multiple teams had to be replaced while scoring, I went in order of draft picks. Those teams will be in bold on a green background (once the sheet is released).
Ok, scoring sheet for MI and for all the alliances is up. See http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2660
Note the teams in green background, bold text. Those are replacement teams called in for missing/double-picked teams.
So, here's how it works from here on out:
This weekend: Week 6 events play, Week 6 events end.
Later this weekend: EricH scores the last 6 regionals.
Sometime next week: MSC and MAR Championship have filled enough to do a draft. Team scores are already out for those.
Next weekend: Said events play out.
End of next weekend: Final scoresheet before the Championships along with a full team score sheet go up. Ditto for final standings. Elgin Clock, MVP, and Rookie of the Year are announced.
Sometime between then and the Championship, the 4 division drafts happen. Special order on those; they go serpentine starting in order of regular season standings.
After Championship: The winner is crowned. Note that the Championship scores (and therefore the winner) are independent of in-season scoring.
Looks like teams are signing up for MSC and MAR. I say let's aim for Monday or Tuesday (Tuesday might be better to give last minute teams a chance to sigh up)for the drafts. I'll take MSC you do MAR, Eric.
Roger that. Any particular order on drafting or do we go random like any other regional?
I can do Tuesday better than Monday, BTW.

Do you think there is any chance the standing will change? We could always use them as is.

I'll tell you after I finish scoring Week 6! Should be done later tonight, maybe tomorrow--either way, in enough time to draft.

Hopefully by Tuesday everyone will be all signed up (59 teams are signed up for MSC. 51 for MAR Championships).
OK, we have the current standings... and quite possibly the MAR and MSC draft orders!

As noted, the MAR Championship draft will be on Tuesday at 7 PM EDT. MSC will probably be at the same time (Ed will confirm this). We're trying to get the maximum number of teams signed up beforehand; however, the lists will not lock until the events begin in case of late adds.
Need FF data on MAR or MSC? Check out http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2660? as both events are in there. The updated full scoring sheet will arrive there very shortly.
Good luck, we'll all need it!

MSC will be at 7 as well.. The standings will be the random list for teams.
I should have the MSC and MAR Championship scores done tomorrow. When those are posted, the Championship draft order will be known.
I will also be announcing the Elgin Clock Award (top person/team), MVP (highest single-event score by a team), and Rookie of the Year (rookie version of the MVP), and publishing the entire list of teams and scoring. (Note that that may be in one huge chunk of data--all 3300 lines or so in Excel--instead of broken up into events, but every line will have an event tag that should be enough to identify it. Depends on how much time I can spare.)
OK, we have our draft order and our Elgin Clock! Results shown are for this week and the total only.

The MVP award goes to 1714 who turned in an impressive 147 points at the Lake Superior Regional. 1114 took second with 143 at GTR-East; 2046 was third with 142 at Cascade. 48 at Buckeye and 1218 at Hatboro-Horsham tied for 4th with 140.
The Rookie of the Year goes to 4003 with 104 points at Traverse City; they are the only rookie to break 100 at any event this year.
Championship drafting will be the weekend before the event. Exact schedule to be released later.

I'd say let's do Archie and Curie on Saturday @ 7pm and Galileo and Newton on Sunday @ 7pm.

Can you guys do 7pm Sat for Archi, 7:15 Curie; then Galileo 7pm Sunday and 7:15 Newton?

Sounds reasonable.
Well... FIRST doesn't have all the awards up. Two divisions are missing Coopertition, and I can't find a couple of the minor awards. But, the 2nd place team needs 14 of those awards to catch the 1st place team. That's not going to happen.
As a reminder, for the Championship, all players start afresh.

Sweet! Thanks for running drafts again this season guys. The team drafts were definitely a lot more fun! :D
How doesnt Nemesis win if he is 7 points ahead?
How doesnt Nemesis win if he is 7 points ahead?
You didn't read my writing. All teams go into the Championship with zero points. Nemesis was 10 points out of third. Falcon was 140 points out of first.
The second block of code is 1) just for fun and 2) setting waivers for next season. It doesn't count for anything this season.
