Just wondering if there's any lovers of good ol' jazz music. despite me being only 16, i have a passion for it, both listening and playing it.

And to add to that, I wanted to share with everyone what I believe to be the greatest big band swing piece EVER made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_gW0VHBbSA

Given your 16, you might not be aware of this. That song was actually used in a very popular commercial back in the 1990's for Chips Ahoy. That is where I first heard that song and loved it ever since. For link to the commercial:

Awesome! maybe one day the mainstream listeners will realize how important jazz really is to American culture and appreciate it more. a lot of kids i know think its not even music, and yet they believe a lot of the crap that is popular today is real music.

Jared,
I forgot to mention that one of the most exciting shows I ever worked was Dave Brubeck and Marian McPartland. They played dueling piano duets at Ravinia. It was like four hands of the same body playing. Most of the time they didn't even look at each other.

I envy you so much right now. Brubeck is one of my favorites. who acompanied them?

While on piano, they were the only ones playing. I was lucky enough to be onstage during rehearsals.

That's still amazing. I would love to go see Brubeck live and hear him play my three favs, "Take Five," "Blue Rondo a La Turk," and "Three to Get Ready"

That is crazy awesome, Al!
Miles Davis is a fan of many, I know. Then again I went to Magnet Art schools for 7 years so having Jazz Bands was a thing. Louis Armstrong was good as well. I never really looked into who played what, though (I never really have for any genre.)
