Hey everyone! Team 79's annual Tempest in Tampa has risen once again! This competition promotes FIRST, Team 79, and STEM education throughout the event!!! We have competitions for FRC, FTC, FLL, and Vex and other memorable events planned, like for one example: a "lock in" when we can stay up the whole night and then compete Saturday morning the 17th. The location is at the University of Tampa!
Remember the date: September 16th and 17th!
Hope to see all of you guys there!!

Can't possibly be more dangerous than posing for a picture with a PVC trident.
...Looking forward to the event!

I'm sure Brian Camp does.
I saw in a recent email that there were 19 team signed up and we could probably guess more than half of them.

I'm really surprised that there are only 19 teams on the list. Florida has only grown in size since the first TNT back in 2007. According to the blue alliance, taking into account for the last two teams who never went to the regional and the 5 that are from out of area, Florida has 56 active teams. I was not on the team for TNT 1, but TNT 2 in 2008 had 26 teams at the event, and there were only 38 active teams in Florida. We should try to encourage more teams to sign up before it gets too late. This event is really fun, and I feel that a first year team that goes to an off season event is much more likely to return the next year.

As of August 16th, there were 19 teams signed up. However, there were 9 teams that have signed up in the past that have not signed up for TNT this year yet. They have told us they probably will. There are another 3 who may sign up.
So, if the 9 that have signed up in the past sign up again, we will have 28 teams, an increase from our last TNT.
The problem this year is that TNT is now in September rather than October, causing some teams to be unable to attend.
Team 79 is very excited for TNT!!

Just checking, does anyone have a schedule for the event? I'm looking to make it down, but I also have to be back in Columbia early Sunday morning by plane, train, or automobile.

Here is the schedule for 2009 and I would guess that this years schedule would be pretty similar. http://www.roboticsboosters.com/tnt/schedule.html
Hope this helps.

Ahh, I see. Well hopefully those 9 teams will all be there, because the way I see it, the more teams the better!! And I'm super excited, shark attack will definitely be re-vamped and ready! Also, when finalized, will the team list be posted here?

So I've already "spammed" my own Facebook with posts and comments about how excited I am for TNT this year, but now I get the chance to do so here on Chiefdelphi... so without further to do... I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!! Okay, that is all. :D ::safety::  :yikes: :ahh:
TnT is one of the funnest FIRST events, and we can't wait to play! Does anyone know if the rules will be modified? There were some changes made at IRI that made the game better in my opinion (mini bots weren't as important, and tube strategy came into play).

Can anyone suggest a good place to go after TNT to watch the conclusion of the UCF vs FIU game, and also the Oklahoma vs FSU game?

We ask that teams try to show up at or after 6PM on Friday. We can't guarantee anyone can get in or unload their things until that time as the facility has scheduled use until then.

Mr. Dunderbak's (http://www.dunderbaks.com/) nothing like authentic German food with plenty of television sets to watch the game (along with live music from a traditional German band)

TNT folks,
Brant Bowen and Daniel Bravo of AndyMark will be driving the AndyMark truck down to Tampa, bringing the competition field to TNT. You guys may know Brant, as he was at the Orlando FRC Regional back in March. Brant is our Operations Engineer here at AndyMark, while Daniel is an AndyMark intern from Purdue.
We have loaded up the AndyMark truck and it's ready for the long trip. When the field is set up, check out the blue and red anodized racks. FIRST had us get these racks anodized as a test to see what this would look like and how it would hold up from event to event. This will be the third event for that anodization (IRI, Texas Robot Roundup), so you can check to see how this neat colorization is wearing.
Sincerely,
Andy

There will be a mentor drivers round ?
As of right now there isn't one officially planned. Based upon field issues over previous years, and seeing as how we don't have the venue until much later than normal, we may not have time for this. If things go well I'll certainly push for one.

TNT was absolutely awesome this year!!!! The University of Tampa was a great location. A huge thanks to team 79 KRUNCH for setting everything up so quickly and getting the field to work so well. A few of our parents mentioned that this was the first competition they've attended where there was no massive field delay.
Another huge thanks to team 233 for picking us (despite the fact that I wrecked your minibot deployment), we couldn't have asked for a better alliance captain. You guys know when to be professional and when to have fun. And another huge thanks to team 665 for working through your robot failures to be able to play. That's a true mark of a champion. You guys got everything working wonderfully and your defense was a huge part of our alliances' success.

I would like to thank everyone who volunteered to make TNT possible it was a great event. Next, I want to extend kudos to 1592 and 801 it was great to work with you guys had my team has a little more luck with the robot we might have been able to go all the way. 233,744 and 665 you guys were great competitors all the way through the tournament. 744 you guys get better every year you represent South Florida well. A special thanks to Brant and Daniel from AndyMark for helping the field setup and the matches run smoothly. Finally, Daniel is the man for trying to help us with our electrical problems that popped up Saturday late afternoon(semifinal match 2). Krunch thank you for being great hosts at the event as always you guys are a class act as a FRC team.
