The Israel Regional will take place for the 8th year, since introducing FIRST Israel back in 2005. It is the only FRC Regional located outside North America.

Dates: March 5th-7th

Location: Nokia Arena, Tel Aviv. It is usually hosting several sport events (it's the home for local Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team) and concerts.

Participants:
After 55 teams in 2010, FIRST Israel has limited the amount of teams to 50 in 2011, and this limit will stay this year too. So far, 39 teams have registered, including:

Three rookie teams - 4319, 4320, 4326
Team 3368 from Bosnia & Herzegovina
Team 1662 from Lodi, CA - which our team is proudly hosting during the competition days for two years already!
Team 1731 from Marshall, VA - which will come to Israel for the first time this year

Winners:
Six teams will get a ticket to the FIRST Championship in St. Louis, MO:

Three Regional Winners
Regional Chairman's Award Winner
Regional Engineering Inspiration Winner
Regional Rookie All-Star

Kickoff: A kickoff event will be held by FIRST Israel on January 8th.

For those seeking some mid-week exciting competition, tune into the Israel Region, held Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Remember, we are 7 hours ahead of the East Coast! So you insomniacs can find something to enjoy! We will be running Tuesday until 2 pm EST!

This year, we have been joined by Jon Dudas, Andy Baker and Dan Green!

I would like to know what the schedule is for the Israel regional. The website is in Hebrew and I can't find a translator. When I click on "English" it just takes me to the USFIRST site, where the 'agenda' for the event is listed as "not available".

I see tweets coming in from the FMS feed now, for practice matches, but it's 8:45 p.m. in Israel (best as I can figure - seems to be a 12-hour difference from us). Maybe the feed is delayed? Anyway, it seems most of the competition will happen in the middle of the night (our time), but maybe I can catch a few matches before bed, depending on what time they start in the morning.

Games should start 9:30 AM GMT +2, meaning 2:30 AM EST (yikes!!).
The matches should be untill around 18:00 PM GMT +2, meaning 11:00 AM EST...

Thank you! I noticed someone else (Jon236) posted that you "will be running Tuesday until 2 pm EST" (which would be 9 p.m. in Israel, correct?).

I'll be able to catch the first few matches tonight; 9:30 a.m. in Israel is 9:30 p.m. here in Hawaii, so I can watch an hour or two before bed. If you finish at 18:00 there, that'll be 6 a.m. here; but if you go until 9 p.m. (21:00), I can catch the last hour or two when I get up.

I think it's cool that we're 1/2 way around the world from you! Makes the time so easy to figure, no math involved - just switch a.m. for p.m.:]

Are the Web cast working now or will they be working in the A.M. in Israel.

All the Israeli teams are sleeping right now....................I think.......

To be specific, the pits and the arena are closed RIGHT NOW. Pits will be open in 7:30 more hours, and the games will start at 9:30 Hours from now - The webcast will be live a little bit before then.

I like the cameras in the upper corners of the field, I think they do a better job of showing what is happening than many traditional shots, too bad I'm only getting about 0.2-0.5 FPS.

Anyone else think the cameramen at the Israeli regional are outstanding? This is the best quality stream I've seen out of the first week!

The DJ playing his Firday night playlist perhaps?

I hope there has been no major issues with Israel like there was in 2010. (I remember hearing stories of firecrackers in the pits, teams staging what effectively amounted to a boycott/protest by sitting on the humps during Elims, and alot of general rudeness).

I also hope there were no major wireless issues like there have been in the past. The 5GHz 802.11a network our robots normally run on is a restricted military frequency in Israel, and they must use a 2.4GHz 802.11g solution instead. This has caused comms issues in the past.

The regional went great. Almost no communication issues.
Some of the best matches iv'e seen in FRC since i started in 06, and i watch way too many regionals.

The music thing - the DJ in Israel doesn't use the list of songs authorized by FIRST, so sometimes we get songs that are not supposed to be there played.

Congratulations to teams 1662 out of California, 1690 from Binyamina and 1937 from Reut.
Also teams 1574, 1577 and 3211 did a great job playing Rebound Rumble.

Congratulations to team 3083 on their Chairman's award.

Congratulations to team 1574 MisCar for their EI award, and more importantly for the WFA to Haim.

Yes , I watched the Eliminations with their substantial delays. The editing was satisfactory except for the playing around with the "mosaicing" (Gridding the images in perfect squares).

The editing of the matches was indeed, among the best I've seen. They used more cuts, were able to focus on the action, and had some good camera positioning. Tip of the Hat to the real time editors.

It was a great elimination round.
I really hope that 1690, Orbits, will be at the Championships.

Congrats to Volunteers of the Year Maccabit Givol and Rob McIntyre. You guys are outstanding!

And a big shout out to all the volunteers who made this event the best Regional ever!

I just noticed that apparently they "flipped" the field so that red is shooting left and blue is shooting right, which matches up with the graphics... I wish more regionals had done that!
