This year looks like another great year for robotics in Minnesota.

North Star welcomes WildStang to Minnesota this year.
I hope to see you there!
Neat this year that Duluth was full BEFORE the twin events in the Twin Cities.
I wonder how many other states have competitions the exact same time just across the street from each other? Walk across the street during a long pit time and see another 60 robots and teams!
Troy
Washington has two competitions in the same building together (the Seattle Olympic and Cascade Regionals). Each Regional only has 50 teams, but there is a huge, shared Pit area.

This will be 111's first time competing up north, to my knowledge.
Minneapolis truly is a great city. Despite Midwest and North Star taking up respective weekends of our district's spring break, it should be a great experience.
See you all in March!

Al and Dottie have come up (maybe even every year), but the whole team has not.

If the team goes, this will be our fourth time up there I think. We went up for the rookie event to help out. Dottie and I are planning another event and it may turn out to be Duluth. Time will tell.

I'm definitely going to have to try to get a chance to get across the street at some point this year to see what Wildstang can do in person. We are looking forward to competing with everyone at 10000 Lakes though.

Note to all North Star competing teams if you require data for alliance selections
due to lack of a scouting team. Please feel free to ask me and I will gladly share our accumulated data. If there are any teams who have some questions or need some feedback for scouting feel free to talk to me at North Star.

We have posted the video for North Star to the Blue Alliance every year so far, and I wouldn't think the plan would be any different this year (I'm not involved in the webcast really). I'm not sure why none of the 10k lakes video is up (I'm not even sure that we ran that webcast in previous years).

Attention any team attending 10,000 lakes:We recently had a member misplace our labview usb disk and are in desperate need of one to install it on a new computer we are getting before the competition. This is for the computer we are using as a driver station. Is there any that would be able to loan it to us? We need it ASAP! We also know our key so that wont be an issue. Thanks!

I have one in Rochester so not really convenient to get it to you... if you don't find one before then, I'll have LabView disk image on an external hard drive that you can use -- I'll be inspecting wearing a yellow hat. Stop by pit 2530 or the Inspection station and have someone find me if you are still wanting by Thursday morning.

What an awesome event! We won't forget it anytime soon, as we had Kinect working for 8 pt. autonomous and massive bridge balances. Thanks go to 2177 (Robettes), 2512 (Duluth East Daredevils), 111, 2225, 2220, and anyone else we may have missed for excellent double balances, and to every alliance partner for being excellent and easy to work with. Congratulations to 111, 2512, 4266 for an amazing show in the finals. The #2 alliance had an excellent autonomous program. And the #5 alliance, as the overwhelming crowd favorites, gave us the best matches of the day. I loved it all (and we seeded 20 places better than last year).
However I have one major concern about the northstar venue as a whole: While traffic flow has improved from last year with the addition of a walking lane in the front rows, one entrance only creates a needless traffic jam and makes some pits much less accessible.

On behalf of WildStang, I want to give a shout out to every team at the North Star regional. You all were very kind and were amazing to be around, I hope to see many of you in the future. I would like to also thank 2512 and 4226 for being such amazing alliance partners, very proud of 4226 doing so well especially at their first regional.
Another shout out to the the Number 1 alliance of 2883,3293, and 1816. You were a fantastic alliance. I am sad that things did not work out between us and 3293, but you guys were fantastic and I look forward to competing with you guys in future events.
One last shout out to 1816, fantastic job at winning the Chairman's award. Your team really did deserve it and I wish you the best of luck at Championship.

Hey 111, don't sweat it. Your Team was an inspiration and we look forward to competing with you in the future.
Thanks to all of the Teams and volunteers in the North Star Regional.
A really big THANK YOU to our Alliance Partners 2883 and 1816. Our Alliance was very exciting and with a successful double balance, there would have been a third match in the finals. You can't ask for much more than that.
I want to let my Team know how proud I am of them for their efforts this year. We really worked and played with heart and put together some amazing matches to win our first 13 matches at the Regional. Finishing 9-0 and at the Top of the Standings after the qualifying rounds was well beyond our expectations.
You have set the bar very high for our future Teams.

The 525 Swartdogs would like to thank our alliance captain 3747 Chaotech and alliance partner 3081 RoboEagles for making a great team.
Also congratulations to 2538, 2530, and 2232. The finals matches were unbelievably close and could have gone either way. There were 102 total hybrid points scored between all the teams in the two matches! You were a great alliance.
We'd like to send a huge Thank You to Susan Lawrence and Mark Lawrence along with all the volunteers who organize and conduct this event. Everything went well as usual.
Congratulations to Gene Jasper for receiving the Woodie Flowers Regional Finalist Award.

Any chance you have any other matches you would share?
I have more matches.. But I got home last night around 8PM, after dealing with a dead wireless router and a newly leaking dishwasher, I started working on that video around 9:30. The next time I looked at the clock it was 2AM and I finished a little before 3AM. I'll certainly do the second semi-final match which was just about as epic with a 36 to 30 pt autonomous in the next few days, and also the finals. All from the same camera.. Not sure if I'll do the running score -- that's a lot of work..

Team 3747 Chaotech would like to thank our great alliance partners, 525 Swartdogs and 3081 RoboEagles. We couldn't have asked for better partners. Your teams were filled with great students, mentors, and a couple of great robots. We are honored to have worked with you.
Speaking of great teams, we would like to thank teams 2530, 2538, and 2232. The finals matches were very exciting and we thank you for the great competition. (Your semi-final series has to be some of the best FRC matches to date!)
10,000 Lakes was a great experience for our team, the volunteers, other teams, and organizers were top notch. It truly is a pleasure to work with such a great group of people. Thank you all!
Team 2883 (F.R.E.D) Would like to extend a huge thank-you out to both 3293 and 1816 for allowing us to be apart of a great alliance that made it to the finals, your teams and mentors should be very proud of how great a job you have done.
I would also like to congratulate our team here in Warroad, through hard work and perseverance you have built and accomplished something you can be very proud of, nice work and we look forward to continued success.
1816 nice job on the chairman's award you are an inspiration and a shining example for all FRC teams in Minnesota.

We would like to extend our thanks to teams 2530 and 2538. You were amazing alliance partners, and we could not have been happier to get picked by you guys.
Congrats teams 525, 3747, and 3081 on the well deserved win. I would also personally like to thank team 525, you guys are a class act and we love competing with and against you every year. Your consistency year in and year out has helped raise the bar in our region and our regional is getting better and better every year because of it.
I would also like to thank teams 2052, 3018, and 4021 for some of the most exciting FRC matches I have ever seen much less been a part of.

We are very excited to be making the trip to St. Louis this year and look forward to seeing you there.

On behalf of 3018, Nordic Storm, I'd like to thank 2052 and 4021 for being great alliance partners. We enjoyed working with you both! The semi final matches were a blast. Congrats to 2538, 2530 and 2232 for those competitive rounds - you earned those wins! And finally congrats to 525, 3747, and 3081 for winning the finals at 10,000 Lakes.

On behalf of 2052, I would like to echo Deb's comments in thanking 3018 and 4021 for a great alliance, and congratulate 2538, 2530 and 2232 on the very exciting and inspiring semi-finals matches. When the combined score is over 140 pts, you know Minnesota FIRST teams can compete with the best of 'em! A huge thank you to jvriezen of 2530 for posting the excellent videos! And of course, congratulations to all of the teams who competed at 10,000 Lakes, especially 525, 3747, and 3081 for the Finals win, and 3630 on Chairman's! Thanks to all of the event staff and volunteers, especially Mark Koors for his dedication in working through the communication issues and patience with all the teams whose emotions were running high.
The one drawback of our double-regional setup is that we don't get to see all of the greatness happening simultaneously across the street. It sounds like North Star was an exciting and inspiring event and I wish I could have witnessed it live. I'm really looking forward to the inaugural State Championships, which promise to be an excellent showcase of Minnesota's best!

Thank you Katie and everyone else for all the kind words. I have long known that Minnesota teams can compete with the best of them, and I look forward to seeing many MN teams in St. Louis.
When the combined score in the last finals match is 98, and there are no penalty or bridge points involved... I think a lot of other areas of the country are starting to take notice of what is happening up here!
Congratulations to 525, 3747, and 3081 for the hard fought Finals win, and 3630 on Chairman's! And a big THANK YOU to 2538 and 2232 for being great alliance partners and for a very exciting Saturday afternoon!!
Id like to thank teams 3747 and 525 for choosing team 3081 to join their alliance and for giving us the chance to compete in our first regional elims and our first world championship, I would also like to thank team 2470 [Our sister school] for borrowing us there batteries for regional elims and nationals. This was the first year that the team felt it had a chance to be selected in the draft, with the robot doing well in autonomous and bridge balancing. Who knew that we'd not only be selected, but end up teaming with two great partners to come out on top.
Also a big thank you to all of the volunteers who helped put on the event, and the sponsors who fund the program.
