Look closely at the pins on both connectors. They are distinctly like male and female body parts so that is the accepted practice of naming them that is used by experienced electrical people. Now you know and are one step closer to being experienced. These are called mating connectors for the same reason. A male fits together with a female connector. Many/most electrical connectors take this form. |
