Re: fisher price 0673 motor AM update

This was an email sent by AndyMark yesterday:

Quote:

We are getting the motors you have been waiting for! The long-awaited Fisher Price Motors will be available to order tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 10th) at 12:00 noon Eastern time. No orders will be accepted before this time.

You have received this e-mail because you have requested to receive a notice when one of the following parts came back in stock:
am-0316 (Fisher-Price 00968-9015 Motor)
am-0821 (Fisher-Price 00801-0673 motor 2011 KOP model)
Due to the 2012 FIRST Season demand of the Fisher Price motors and our limited supply that we are able to get, we have decided to give prior notice of when these motors will be open for sale.

If you are monitoring the webpage at noon tomorrow, please be sure to refresh the page to see when they open, as the webpage does not refresh itself. If you have signed up for an In-Stock Request on either of the two motors, you will still receive an e-mail shortly after the motors are open for sale. If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation where they are out of stock by the time you reach the page after 12:01 EST, Feb 10th, you will need to find another source for this motor, as we will be out of stock for this season, most likely we will not be able to get any more from Fisher-Price.

A few things to consider:
Because of this limited supply, we are only opening the motors for sale by themselves, no gearboxes or gears attached. The gears and gearboxes will need to be ordered separately. So, am-0822, am-0823, am-0347, amd-0348 and am-0629 will not be available to order.
In order to ensure you get the motors you want, we encourage you to place your order on-line as soon as we open our website. We cannot guarantee that a Purchase Order submitted for these parts will be processed before the inventory is gone. We also have limited phone receptionists, so phone orders will be difficult to manage.
We will ship out as many of these orders as possible on Friday, but we cannot guarantee your motors will be shipped on Friday. We ship orders based on the order in which they are received, on shipping service options, and if all items on an order are in-stock.
Please order only the motors you need. As FIRST team mentors, we all practice gracious professionalism and we encourage you to only get what you need. Once we run out of these motors, most likely we will not be able to get any more from Fisher-Price.
Thank you for your patience while we worked to get these motors back in stock, and good luck during the 2012 FRC Competitions.

If you have any questions please contact sales@andymark.com.
And another one earlier today, which in addition contained the same info as the one from yesterday:

Less than an hour to go! Some people didn't get this, so we are just resending the info

AndyMark did the best they could to give everyone a fair chance at getting the motors.

We were lucky to have a mentor on top of this at the specified time and were able to get 4. (2 for competition bot and 2 for practice bot)

Re: fisher price 0673 motor AM update

10 minutes prior to Noon EST:

- I rebooted my computer (fresh OS instance)
- I rebooted my Internet connection (fresh connection)
- Logged into my AndyMark account
- Added the credit card I would use to the stored credit card area

One minute prior to Noon EST:

- I started hitting the F5 key to refresh

At Noon EST:

- I saw the 0673 as Available and I pounced

I got mine plus the 15t sun gears... I think having the _stored_ credit card to instantly select was the beneficial advantage...

Because AM asked in their communications, I only bought what we _need_ since we're dependent on the AM Planetaries w/FP 0673 already on our competition and practice bots ... but, I have to say I was tempted to buy a lot in order to have something of value to help our friends... NOT SURE, ultimately, what would have been the better choice...

Re: fisher price 0673 motor AM update

When we placed our last AM order they were out of the planetary gearboxes for the FisherPrice motors. We contacted them to ask about their availability and they offered to process our order and payment while holding the order until the gearboxes were in stock. The order shipped shortly after. I assumed they had done the same with these.

I think the situation's a little different since they're expecting to get stock of the AM planetaries in semi-regularly as they're manufactured. These motors were special ordered from Mattel, and there's a reasonable likelihood that they just won't be getting any more before the end of the season. Letting people secretly preorder would have been a pretty poor move, I think.

Re: fisher price 0673 motor AM update

I added to cart and went to check out and had some fun error pop up regarding non alphanumeric characters, and the shipping selection box got stuck loading, by the time I got around that at 11:07 they were gone.

very happily I found a team that had just the right amount laying around and willing to give to us. So I'm alright.

I do think for such things knowing how many are allowed per robot a cap should've been put on the max quantity allowed ~4 or so.

It almost starts to run afoul of the "vendor" rule with them not being available to everyone, but the legal motor rules cover it.
