Re: FIRST Music

Just today our team was discussing this to some degree...

we seem to all like party with pinkie...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sryqa...ure=plpp_video

As well as:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6xRSafBV8o

Those are the only 2 I know by name, we also all agreed on some smooth jazz and classical.
along with alot of the other songs/artists mentioned here. (IFD FTW!)

Unfortunately, not all of the team has the same appreciation for Winter Warp Up that I do... although, sometimes those who disapprove are outnumbered... :P

Re: FIRST Music

My team mostly prefers rock/alternative music but they seem to have taken a liking to Deadmau5's (or is it Deadmau5'?) - Ghosts N Stuff though

Re: FIRST Music

personally i like the Orgy cover of Blue Monday by New Order...

and then you can't go wrong with Intergalactic by the Beastie Boys... which has a special place in my heart from our rookie year at the Portland regional...

and a number of Muse songs are good too. I like Hysteria in particular

As far as general "bands" go, Pendulum, The Glitch Mob, Blackmill, and Skrillex are good, though we like to mix in some alternative and jazz music occasionally.

You've probably already checked this out, but Skrillex did a pretty good remix of Levels. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRqZAW1YCG0

For those interested in electronic type music, I'd also recommend Digitalism, and Eric Prydz (The full sets he releases tend to be better than individual songs).

I'm a fan of any song that starts off loud and upbeat. Those always seem to get me pumped for whatever I'm about to do. (Calc tests not included.)

Some examples of what I mean, generally rock:

Journey - Separate Ways

Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train

Alice in Chains - Man in the Box

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

And for some reason, I really like Jay-Z and Kanye West - Paris (Don't worry, it's the clean version.)

Hands Up - Daft Punk

Although Party in the USA was played 7 times in one day at the Hartford CT Regional last year...

Re: FIRST Music

Notice that techno and rock/alternative feature heavily here...

And yet GSR has had a steady diet of Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift for the last few years. In fact, they've accomplished a remarkable feet...making a playlist that is almost identical to KISS 108 and yet, somehow, far more passe.

BRING BACK THE TECHNO! GSR in 2003-2004 was excellent... Eiffel 65, Darude, etc.... All the classics.

It seems our team loves anything techno or older rock music and even the occasional pop song.

Personally, I love Bassnectar, Skrillex, and my new favorite song of all time is Rainbow Factory. It's really disturbing.

Re: FIRST Music

Appropriate this year might be -
Led Zeppelin - Houses Of The Holy - The Crunge
((ending))
Take it take it
Excuse me
Oh will ya excuse me
I'm just trying to find the bridge
Has anybody seen the bridge?
Please!
(Have you seen the bridge?)
I ain't seen the bridge!
(Where's that confounded bridge?)

It might make it onto knowledgeable DJs' playlists, particularly if we give them clues.

And they should time it so that that part starts around the 30 second mark. :)

Cool indeed. They might slip some Dave Mathews in there too. Anyone seen the bridge?

Is there a London regional? Isn't London Bridge in Arizona now? Come to think of it, didn't Fergie have a "bridge" song? (Oh Snap version for the tender ears at FRC tournaments)
