Polycord & Rollers for Conveyor Belt
Hi everyone,
Our team is planning to make a conveyor belt and we see that largely teams agree that polycord and rollers are the way to go. We wanted to ask where to buy polycord, what type, diameter, length, etc? Also, same questions for rollers. On a side note, what kind of motors do you all use for this kind of mechanism, and how do you attach it to the roller? Thanks! -3992 |

Please run a search there are currently 7 active threads that discuss all of this on the sidebar of the portal posted to today alone.

You can buy polycord from McMaster-Carr, search for 'polyurethane belts' on http://www.mcmaster.com.
Many things will work for rollers/pulleys. You can buy them (very expensive), use wood dowels or PVC pipe amongst other ideas. HTH |

wireties, should I get solid core? What diameter do you recommend?

1/4" seems to be the choice of most FIRST teams, that is what we use. If you get solid core, you will need to be able to join the ends together. There are some great CD threads about doing this cheaply (w/o buying $500-$600 kits). The hollow cord will work fine and is easier to join the ends but I think the barbs (that hold the ends together) force one to use larger diameter pulleys/rollers. HTH |
