2012 Image flashdrive problem

i am our programmer from team 2197, and im having a problem setting up the 2012 image for the Crio. i am having the issue of how the flas drive doesnt work the "traditional way" so i am using this work around http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default...ation_Rev0.pdf to get it to work. now the problem i have run into: my hard drive is only 15GB (im using the E09 classmate computer). i need to delete files, but i dont want to delete anything i need for my hard drive, and i only need 2 and a half more GBs! i need help if someone can recommend anything to delete, our has had a late start, and some other road bumps in our way.

What do you need the room for?

If you're planning to do programming on the E09 Classmate, especially LabVIEW, I strongly suggest that you find another option. Trying to juggle the Driver Station and Eclipse or LabVIEW on a single tiny screen is hard enough, but I find the keyboard to be almost unusable for programming. Even a $200 netbook would be preferable.

Re: 2012 Image flashdrive problem

I deleted the Microsoft Games, which freed up a lot of space.

And I also recommend finding any other computer to do your programming on. Trying to reckon with the vision code or a complex autonomous on a tiny screen is extremely difficult.

For our rookie year, we only used the classmate for programming once, before we installed it on a programmers computer.

thank you for all your help guys, we are able to use our new drive station now, because we now have a usb ethernet adapter for it, so we can configure our router and Crio. thanks again guys!

Re: 2012 Image flashdrive problem

nevermind, ran into a new problem, the flashdrive just wiped EVERYTHING on our new drive station, luckily our tech guy at school has a recovery disk. but i dont want to do it on my classmate. can someone walk me though everything i need to do? it would be very helpful. also i have one of the flashdrives that have the problem where they are missing some component you need to go through this http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default...ation_Rev0.pdf to get it to work. but like i said, i dont want to wipe everything to my BIOS on our only other option.

also, to answer the question of what we need it for, its our drive station, and now is our only problem since the whole OS is wiped, and thats why i am asking for a step by step from someone on here or something, because i want to do it right without reformting the whole computer.

If everything is "wiped out", what is wrong with repeating the steps for reimaging the classmate as found here:

It's supposed to wipe out everything from the Classmate, and then load a complete new set of files. Was there an error during the reimaging process?

Or did you try to use the flash drive from the Kit of Parts on something other than the Classmate it was exclusively intended for?

Re: 2012 Image flashdrive problem

yea, i used it on a tablet/ netbook hybrid thing we had. our tech guy ordered a restore disk. so, when i load the image flashdrive (i had to make a new one because we had one of those damaged ones where they have some damaged file or whatever) it will reformat the harddrive, but wil all my stuff still be there? or how do i do it so i keep all the stuff on my Classmate E09?

Re: 2012 Image flashdrive problem

ok, how can i make sure that when i run the reimage flashdrive that i dont delete all my files, like i did last time -.- i have been going by the getting started with the 2012 frc control system, and it says that it will run, and when i restart the classmate, it will reboot into windows. i wont lose anything by doing this like last time i did it?

Re: 2012 Image flashdrive problem

Searching the Chief Delphi forums for "classmate bootmgr" yielded a few threads with advice that might help.

If everything else fails, you're welcome to bring your Classmate down to Kokomo and use our 2012 E09 flash drive to reload it.
