Bumper Material

What materials you guys are using to cover your bumpers and where you are purchasing the fabric?

[R28]
C.use a stacked pair of 2-˝ in. “pool noodles” as the bumper cushion material which completely covers the plywood. Cushion material may extend up to 2-˝ in. beyond the end of the plywood.
D.be covered with a rugged, smooth cloth. The cloth must completely enclose all exposed surfaces of the plywood and pool noodle material. The fabric covering the Bumpers must be a solid red or blue in color. Visually, the red or blue must be as close to the corresponding color in the FIRST logo as reasonable (i.e. to a reasonably astute observer, they appear similar). The only markings permitted on the Bumper fabric cover are the team number (see Rule [R35]).

We are using the specified pool noodle. Hope this helps.

We already know the rules but were wondering which specific fabrics people are using and where they are buying it. Thanks though.

Well we're just using the pool noodles. Since the fabric wasn't required, we decided to just leave it be.

I can't tell if you're serious or not. Hopefully not. If you are serious, please go back and read the rules again. Covers are not optional.

In previous years, a suggested cloth was Cordura. Use that as a search item and you'll probably find some posts here with suppliers.

Your noodles must be covered with fabric. I am asking what types of fabrics people are using and where they are buying it.

@GaryVoshol: Thank you. That's my point.

Try Seattle Fabrics.
since the inception of bumpers and covers, we've used them as suggested way back when.

Thank you. What specific material are you using?

Re: Bumper Material

without digging for my invoice, just call them and tell them you're a FIRST team.
I dont even know myself as they have my account on file, and I just order the same thing as previous years.
They know which type of red and blue covers as well as many teams order from them.:)

Re: Bumper Material

I am just kidding. Sorry for trying to lighten the mood. This is what were using, probably like all the others.

Re: Bumper Material

Last year we received a donation of 600x300 Denier polyester from a local fabric wholesaler. It worked very well for us and was pretty easy to sew.

Good Luck!
