That looked like some good distance! And it looked pretty consistent, which is awesome! Keep up the excellent work!

Good job, 3997! A consistent shooter goes a long way in games like this.

What motor/gearing setup was that?

We are running a cim on the gates belting 1:1 ratio. The cimple box is just there for the wheel axle.

Is the ball in contact with the rollers for an instant or for a while (around the entire hood of the one-wheel shooter)?

It is in contact while going thought almost all of bonnet. It is a 2 inch squeeze thought the whole bonnet until it is unleash.

Try a tread wheel and use two instead of what looked like four. So far good job, and good luck.

We already changed the wheel but the kids decided after testing it that is the design they wanted to go with.

Did you have a 2" - 2.5" spacing between the wheels?

Re: Rookie Team 3997 Shooter 1-29-2012

We have a 2 inch squeeze from wheel to back of shooter hood.

Great shooter! And also, great arc! How far did that go? If you perfect some vision tracking, you could use that arc to just fire off balls into baskets fom half court or more! This thing could just shoot all net, no basket!

Keep up the great work!

P.S. Once you hit the ground after that arc, how high and far will the ball bounce after that?

Re: Rookie Team 3997 Shooter 1-29-2012

We shot 28 feet and we almost have our camera to track so we are hoping to use the two together from about half court or less. We really didn't let it bounce so it would not go in the street and get run over by a car (the ball that is).
