how would i get written permission from an artist such as daft punk for my chairman's video please help

For some reason we have a ton of band kids on our team. We are hoping to record a few jam sessions and then take the best of that.

Remember if you are asking for the music you MUST let them know there is a chance that the video will be played in front of 1000s of people and becomes property of FIRST once you are finished.
That being said, I would recommend checking out Creative Commons there are several great artists on there that are willing to give you permission in order to get their sound out there. -Kelli |

Using copyrighted music can be a very cumbersome process in getting permission to use it.
We tried unsuccessfully with some local Hawaiian music that Sony had rights to, primarily because it took too long to get a response in time for our video submission at NYC last year. If you haven't started the process yet, I'd recommend against it and use non-copyrighted music instead. There are lots of sources to acquire/subscribe to. |
