Unfortunately we have no clue how much any of these scores have been inflated by foul points :/.

Must have missed that one...but it still doesn't lose the effect. We've got some hugely powerful 'bots here and the rest of the teams are still stepping it up a notch every now and then. The amount of bridges I've seen balanced, and the coopertition that goes into balancing them is amazing. Eliminations are going to be rough, and I can't wait to see them, whether it's from behind the glass at the station or cheering on madly by my friends' sides.

I don't recall the 72-0 game having too many foul points - I think there was a double balance and a lot of baskets, including during autonomous.

The 72-0 match was a penalty free match. That was all 1986, 1987 and 2949.

There's a pretty easy way to tell how many penalties there were - all the matches are on http://www.more.net/content/2012-qualification-matches. It looks like the 72-0 match had 9 foul points.

I noticed a side effect yesterday of not announcing what fouls are for - 60+ matches in and teams are still getting fouls for things like handling the balls during autonomous. That shouldn't be happening 60+ matches into a regional.

Bomb squad (16) and Team Titanium (1986) make a great alliance, no doubt about that. :)

Congrats to the winning alliance!

congrats to the winning alliance! 1986 was a strong scorer and robot all weekend and was definitely a force throughout competition! 16 had a great, and very creative robot on a very well done swerve drive. 3784 proved to be a great partner, and the alliance had a great strategy! Well done guys, and congratulations. Enjoy your net-cutting!

Don't forget 3784. They were on the alliance too.

What a great regional. Thanks to all of the volunteers that make FIRST a success in KC. Probably the smoothest running regional I've every been to. Amazing, especially considering it was a week 1 event.

A big thanks to 16 and 3784 for helping us win the regional. 16 has a unique way of playing the game involving bump transversal and quick ball pick-up that limited the oppositions offensive opportunities while giving us the room we needed to collect and score. 3784 was a steal with the 24th pick. In them we got 10 points of auto and 10 points on the bridge. Major props to the scouts for finding this gem of a 24th pick.

Congrats to 1108 for winning their 7th Chairman's Award in 9 years. I have no doubt that some day the FIRST Hall of Fame will bear your name.

See you all at Champs.

Yes.
Its essentially winning 5k, unless you win the CA in NYC where you get 6k.;)

I wonder what happens if you win it twice.
I believe there was a team last year that won it twice at different regional events. 10k?

What's really nuts? 16, 1986, and 3784 were ONE POINT away from losing in the QUARTERFINALS. That's not one Breakaway* point either, that's after every shot taken and made in hybrid, tele, and the balances.

It was awesome.

*Breakaway points are nontransferable to other games.

We were all doing the math in the stands and hoping a human player didn't land a shot at the last second. 8th seeded alliances are very dangerous in this game. We saw some excellent defense played on us by 3284, and needed every bit of the 21 point lead we built up in the middle game to survive their double balance and our disaster of a balance attempt.

Lesson learned: Know the score. If a single balance is enough to secure the win, minimize your risk.
