VEX Rack and pinion. Legal?

We want to use the Vex 393 motor along with a rack and pinion system. We have tons of Vex parts available to use, but I am not sure if the use of Vex rack and pinions are legal. does any one know? I'm looking on the FIRST site now.

While this is not the official forum for Q&A answers, VEX rack and pinion gears are FRC legal.
