Mechanism to lift chassis

We are thinking of having a regular chassis with 6" wheels. We want to have some form of a mechanism, which would drop down, and lift the entire chassis up, and help it go over the bump.

We thought of ideas such as pneumatics, as well as a rack and pinion.

Any suggestions as to what would be the most effective way to do this?

Thank you

Re: Mechanism to lift chassis

We just used drop brackets and another set of 6 inch wheels...so the first set hit the bump one inch below the half line, and then lift up the next set. We thought about doing this with some sort of lever mechanism using pneumatics, but we were concerned it would take too long for us to learn how to make it right. We plan on figuring it out in the off season. Here is a pic of what we came up with:

We are going with wheel drops kinda like the above picture. But I would try switching your current wheels for plaction roughtop wheels. We have found those to interact nicely with the metal bump.
