Bridge bot? We had trouble with the andymark "8"" pneumatic wheels NOT being 8" and having trouble going over the barrier.

Collector and base look awesome. Very clean.

actually. we can go over the barrier, we just cut the frame a bit, right now we are just 4 and 1/8 inches off the ground, which allows us going over the bump quite smooth actually

By the way how was your turning? My team used the pneumatic wheels, and we had a rough time turning so we had to change things up a bit.

Our wheels are center dropped, so we had no problem with turning, we can do a 360 even on the carpet.

We're doing wide-base 4-wheel and turning is fast. With six wheels you should be immovable.

as i said, center dropped 6 wheels, at any time, we only have 4 wheels on the ground, and we can do 360 even on the carpet, i dont think i will consider that immovable

Sorry, I meant under the influence of another robot!

oh, i see. But previous years we have been using the same design, we were always one of the best defensive robot at Peachtree Regional, pushing was not an issue for us at all

How's 6 wheel drop working out for aiming? I can imagine the rock would throw off aiming, although I'm not sure how much it would throw it off if you're doing manual instead of automatic

What is the drop of the center wheel? As a note of caution, our team used a similar setup with 6 pneumatic wheels and a 1/4" drop in the center wheel. We were able to pivot on a dime while testing, but once we added all the weight of other components, we found the compression in center wheel eliminated the drop and made turning almost impossible. (The lateral coefficient of friction on those wheels seems to be rather high) Have you gotten around this problem?

we just encountered this problem, any good suggestions?

We ran into this last year.
A few solutions-
1.More tire pressure.
2. Shorten the wheel base by drilling a couple of new holes.
3. Change one pair, or both pairs of the outside wheels to something with less friction like KoP wheels.
4. Gear your robot for more torque.

We ran into two problems when we did this. The robot would either refuse to turn, or the robot would execute a bouncy turn.
Refusing to turn usually means you have a long way to go to get it to work. Bouncy turns usually means you aren't far from non-bouncy turns. We deemed the occasional bouncy turn to not be a problem and moved forward.

Best of luck to you.
-Jeff
