Team 3316 Preview!

Hi everybody,
We know, the design isn't the most common one...
But we weren't sure that we will be able to shoot accurately, so we chose something simpler.
We will be able to pick up balls from the ground, lift them, and score to the middle hoops.

Comments? thx :P
Team 3316

By the way, we are still working on the bridge pusher. We ran some tests, and the window motor isn't strong enough, and even the van door motor has troubles... What motor do you guys plan to use for this task?

Oh my lord....
Something tells me you took after 47 in 2000.

Looks great and absolutely sure to wow everyone!

If this thing is fast, accurate and reasonably well driven, I belt you'll give half of the 'Shooters' in the field a run for their money.

Well done.

Very cool, I was wondering when we were going to see someone post up something like this. Great work, and good luck this year.

pretty cool. we tossed around a simular idea, but in the end oped to go with a shooter. do you have any video you'd be willing to share? i'm quite curious to see it in action :P

Very Similar to a concept toyed with but went with a shooter in the end. Good to see someone made it work.

One thing, though. The bumpers are gonna add another 2 inches in front. Just hope that doesn't kill your dumper at the end of the day.

Thanks a lot guys!
I am quiet surprised to get such encouraging comments, it really made my day :)

We don't have a video yet, but I'll post it as soon as we will have one.

We tried it today, works just fine :)

Very good, job. Even if you are just going for the second hoop, from experience, I know that there will be many teams who have a shooter, but are a lot less consistent than you. Especially good job deciding to go with the simpler, design.

The robot looks great, my team used the same concept for VEX Gateway this year and it worked great. I just wanted to make sure that you guys had looked into rule R02:

[R02]
The Robot must satisfy the following size constraints:

a.horizontal dimensions must not exceed 28 by 38 in.,
b.the absolute height must not exceed 84 in.,
c.the height of the Robot at the start of the match must not exceed 60 in.,
d.any appendage may not extend more than 14 in. beyond the frame perimeter, and
e.no other part of the Robot may extend beyond the vertical projection of the Frame Perimeter (with the exception of minor protrusions permitted per [R01-2]).

Specifically, d and e. When your arm is going up, it is going way out of the 14" allowed from the perimeter.

It looks less than a foot outside the perimeter.

When it's halfway up, it would be a lot more than a foot.

Dont see how since it looks to lift vertically. The piece doesnt move horizontally so it would be the same amount outside the entire way up.

Correct.
The ball holder is lifted vertically, and then turned to almost 90 degrees. Therefore, it will not violate R02, and will only be something like 13'' outside the frame perimeter.
but thx for your concern :)

Alright, got it! Sorry, I thought it swung around the top part of the frame -- glad to see that it doesnt :)
