Lose of a FIRST supporter
 

For those of you that attended the Palmetto Regional the 3 years it was at Clemson University, you will remember the Mayor of the City of Clemson welcoming us all to town and proudly showing off his prosthetic leg. He loved FRC and FLL, both of which were held at Clemson for 3 years. He came to each competition to cheer all of us on. Mayor Larry Abernathy passed away today after battling several illnesses. Those of us that have local teams will miss him greatly.

I remember him! We competed there all three years. It was nice of him to welcome us.

What a shame that is. He was a great speaker, and extraordinarily inspiring to the kids and adults who heard him speak. My deepest sympathies to his family and the city of Clemson.
