Bumpers vs sponsors publicity
 

I do have a question. We are at the maximum weight for are robot. We are only missing sponsors publicity.

Can we fix our sponsors publicity aluminum plate to the bumpers, like on the following pics ? Bumpers would be less than 20 pounds.

I believe and answer to that question is "NO".

Bumpers are very strictly defined to the point that they draw pictures of them in the manual. The only way I could see this working would to argue that the sheet is your mounting hardware. Even then they would be deemed illegal.

wilson is correct. When an inspector looks at bumpers the decision that is considered is "does this design shift weight that should be considered part of the robot to the bumper system?" In the case of the picture above (and the question), that answer would seem to be yes. That is not to say that certain designs that use metal on the back of the bumper for mounting are illegal. It is simply the question that is considered.

Definitely not.
Your entire bumper, not just the plywood and noodles, must fit within the range of 2-10" from the floor. Theoretically, if you put the bottom of your bumper at two inches, and make the sponsor sheet only 3" tall, you could just fit. But I do not believe that meets the spirit or intent of the rules, both bumper and sponsor.

That display looks great, and I hope you can find a way to get it onto your robot within the weight limit.

A much lighter solution for sponsors decals (that is much easier to incorporate into a maximum weight robot) is to print out the logos using a wide format printer and then laminate it.

Another option is to take your sponsor's logo(s) to a sign company and have them print or decal them onto some chloroplast/corrugated plastic. We do this every year. The results look great, are lighter than anything but laminated paper, and serve a useful function of closing up big openings on your robot that balls (or other robots) might enter.

We print our sponsor logos on sticker paper and out them on polycarb anywhere it will fit on the robot. Ie, we already have polycarb on the bot and we put the stickers on it.

we make lightening holes in the shape of our sponsors :) works great no mater what the weight,
