Well done. This is an excellent robot for a young team. Get some driving practice in and a solid strategy and this thing will do well.

On the scoring video, how close is your dumper getting to the hoop, it looks right on top of it. Any side video or pictures?

Looks very nice especially from a rookie team. But don't forget that you need your team number on the front bumper.

I could sort of see it, I just wasn't quite sure on the distance. We had some want this idea for consistant scoring and I'm glad to see someone go for it!

If you don't mind, one from the side would be great!

Most have been putting them on just one side of the opening. I saw one team with them split apart, but I'm not 100% sure if it's legal.

Re: 3947 rookie robot unveil

we were thinking about splitting it but had the same question if it was legal or not

Garten Haeska 18-02-2012 01:04

Re: 3947 rookie robot unveil

I know for a fact it's not legal!

Re: 3947 rookie robot unveil

Oh thanks we are putting the rest of our bumpers together tomorrow and we will put them on one side then

To verify the post above it is not legal to split the numbers as per a Q&A ruling:
A. Per [R35], team numbers must be clearly visible. This means that they may not be inverted, obscured, fragmented, upside down, etc.

keyword, fragmented.

Excellent job! You certainly don't look like a rookie team with the great looking bot!

There are a couple of threads with info regading the numbers on the Bumpers, and how you can't split them, but I wanted to share a good white paper that is referenced in one of those threads, in the event it is a tight squeeze to get them on one side.

Good luck this season, although I don't think you're going to need any luck!

Sorry I'm on my iPad and I'm unable to quote rules for some reason...

I really like your scoring mechanism. It looks very consistent. How about a video of the feeder?

See if I can quote my own post in another thread- - instructions about how to make some numbers for the short side bumper segments.

Re: 3947 rookie robot unveil

Great robot, especially for a rookie team. The action of bringing up your arm and getting it ready to dump takes a bit of time. If it isn't already, you might want to program this movement so that the drivers can just hit a button and put up the dumper all the way, that would seem faster and more fluid to me. If that is already what it is doing, sorry for not realizing that. Overall, you guys have a great robot with time left to practice. Good luck.

With all the moving parts and such, even for a rookie team, I must say I am very impressed. I'm looking forward to seeing this bot in regionals!

Re: 3947 rookie robot unveil

Awesome. We were just saying today in the shop that a robot that can consistently dunk 2-pointers will win regionals. Look forward to seeing you in action at BMR.

Also, I've seen several references to 3947 being a rookie team. They're well-versed in VRC and if you do some research, you'll find they have a pretty good FRC pedigree.

Creative scoring mechanism. Really awesome work for a rookie team.

That's a pretty awesome dumper! :D Certainly doesn't look like a rookie robot.

Very nice robot for a rookie team. You have much more features than our rookie team, hopefully the scoring will work nicely.

A solid background in VRC or FTC translates quite well into FRC. Look up FRC 2753 sometime--if I recall correctly, they won one regional and were high in the eliminations at their next regional, then became the first rookie team on Einstein in, well, many years. They came from FTC with a solid background there. (They've since stopped doing FRC...hopefully that's only for a while.)

A solid VRC/FTC background will almost--but not quite--negate "rookie" effects.

They have done a great job this year. They have made me a proud principal after a five year layoff from FRIST. WE started in Vex and slowly moved up to FRC after about 4 years. I can say that the kit makes it much easier than when I started Cyberblue. Great job eveyone. On to Boiler!
