DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
Hi, my driver station doesnt recognize kinect
i've already installed the kinect SDK and kinect server i tried to run the Kinect Server Debug Mode and it didnt work, and in the skeleton viewer in the Kinect from microsoft program recognized everything of the human player! What do i have to do?? |
Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
Make sure that you have the Beta2 version of the SDK. You can check by going to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Kinect". The folder inside should be called "v1.0 Beta2"

Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
We do have the beta SDK, and it still will not connect, even over 2 different computers.

Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
What does the Debug mode of the FRC Kinect Server do? What does the Kinect string on the DS Diagnostics tab say?

As for the kinect server debug mode, it runs a small window that does nothing and presents nothing but the name in the top right of the window as (2012 FRC Kinect Server) then it does nothing. I just restarted my computer with the kinect in it and it still says no kinect on the DS but it still works in the kinect skeleton viewer sample or whatever it's called. |
Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
Hmmm.... If you definitely have the Beta2 SDK and the Skeletal Viewer works, but the Kinect Server doesn't I'm out of ideas. Sorry :(

Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
Be sure you are using the proper version of the Kinect Beta2 SDK. I was trying to install the 32-bit version of the SDK on a 64-bit computer and had the same issue.
If you don't know which SDK you have/need, download both the 32-bit (x86) and the 64-bit (x64) versions and try them one at a time. Good luck! |
Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
A timeout string means that the Kinect Server SW isn't running, and you may want to click the restart button near the LED.
If the string says No Kinect, that means the server is running, but that the server cannot open a connection to a Kinect device. Especially if you are on a slow computer, you may want to disconnect, reboot, connect, and listen to the sounds and watch that the "drivers being installed" stuff comes up in the bottom right. You could also check the Device Manager and verify that the drivers successfully loaded. Some MS guidelines are to plug the Kinect into its own USB controller, and especially don't plug it into a hub with lots of other devices. Greg McKaskle |
What restart button? If it's on the drivers station, I've tried that and it doesn't connect. It flashes red quick then goes to the no kinect grey. Which leads me to think it's an Frc kinect Server.
I have tried taking everything off other than the kinect and no luck. I know the pc cannot connect two programs to the kinect so ive been avoiding that as well. It will run the skeleton viewer. (not the -wpf one what does that mean? It says I can connect another kinect) it just will not connect to the diver station. And after up to 3am of work, windows is driving me crazy. I might smash this piece of crap >.< |
Oh and nothin else is in USB ports. An the kinect is alone in it without any relays

Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
WPF means Windows Presentation Foundation and is actually the version the Kinect Server appears to be based off of (loosely).
|
Hmm.. So mine doesn't run or register the kinect properly but I've reinstalled it 3 times! And once I completely delved it first!
