Is this Legal?
1 Attachment(s)
Hi there,
Team 907 is a bit behind and is looking into drastic measures to complete our robot. We were wondering, is this legal? -Gregor |
Re: Is this Legal?
If the person weighs less than 120 pounds, than maybe. :)
In all seriousness, I'd say no. The point is to stop building at Midnight, not just to have it bagged and tagged. |
Re: Is this Legal?
You know, back before Bag and Tag we tried to ship a student in the crate along with the robot... We even almost made it under the weight limit! It definitely helped that she could stand up inside the crate with room to spare.

Re: Is this Legal?
Isn't that a violation of the warning on the plastic bag - the one that says it isn't a toy and should be kept away from children??

Re: Is this Legal?
I don't think there is a limit on the bagged content regarding weight or biology that is imposed by FIRST. The bags are big, but putting a machine shop inside would be a literal stretch. Then there's the support of your contained crew. NASA may have some hints about that. They would certainly be interested in a device that enables long-term bag habitation, even if it was not part of an actual FIRST robot. Feeding and breathing through small tubes that could pass through the bag's "neck" gather under the seal ziptie would also be a large turn off. Dr. Flush (of Hamilton Sunstrand) would also have some commentary about the most frequent question concerning space station life.
Cute idea for a picture though. I'm already trying to think of a caption for it in case it makes it to a contest. :D |
Re: Is this Legal?
Air holes are strictly forbidden.

Re: Is this Legal?
I registered just to say this:
@MathMaven: If you honestly think that stuffing a student into a bag is reasonable and our best way forward, then you'd better get your head checked. Sorry, I guess some people just don't get jokes. In any event, while there are teams out there who do not observe the 'wrenches down' rule, our 'bot is bagged, tagged, and ready to go. Best of luck to everyone this year! I'm looking forward to the competitions. |

Re: Is this Legal?
We discussed putting all the students in the bag and keeping the robot out. Work would be stopped. Same effect, right?

Re: Is this Legal?
We tried something similar. We are using KOP fans to keep the student ventilated. Nice to finally to find something to do with them. The problem is we forgot to put food in with him. Is it legal to unseal the bag to put food in? Maybe on humanitarian grounds?

Re: Is this Legal?
Am I the only one who thought of what that bag will look and smell like after however long it is until your competition?:ahh:
EDIT: Think about it. There are some things nobody could go without doing... |
Re: Is this Legal?
Never mind. His mom just ripped the bag open. Something about missing too much school to work on the @#$@#@$!$#@$ robot. Learned some new words today. Plus she suggested something I don't think is physically possible to do with a robot. Anyway is duct tape legal to seal the bag back up?

Re: Is this Legal?
when traveling to a competition, it is important to take with you your bagged robot, driver, assorted tools, and camera

We at the CD site have no sense of humor that we are aware of. May we come in?
Bonus if you get the reference. |

Re: Is this Legal?
I can't tell if I feel bad for the robot, the kid, or both. XD
*ahem* Anyways, that's not legal. Putting a kid in a bag with a robot is not allowed by the FRC Manual, or by law. |

Sometimes the fun of sarcasm is seeing how many people actually thought you were serious.
