I have no idea what technical issues are involved or who is actually responsible, but can whoever that is please try to in general increase the crowd volume on webcasts? The crowd is a huge part of the FRC environment, and on most webcasts you can barely hear them!

FRC webcasts are recorded and broadcast from the A/V booth and represent the same images and sound that are displayed on the big screen and the loudspeakers at the event. Any and all crowd noise you hear is bleed over from an open microphone.

I thought about that, then reasoned "well, I can hear the crowd a little bit, so there has to be a microphone somewhere"... I forgot that the crowd is sometimes so loud that you can hear it through the announcer's mic :D
Still, I think that real crowd noise would help not only streaming, but for any potential TV (like the Michigan championships last year)... maybe the cameras in the stands can have microphones? I don't know much about this stuff, and I'm sure it's showing...

While the realism would make it more fun, I think there will be times when being able to hear the crowd won't be as helpful, especially depending on who it sitting around the camera. Maybe a microphone directed toward the crowd, but in the field area would work....
