Looks like we have a variety of teams coming, both old and new, veteran and rookie.

Anyways, wishing teams competing there good luck!

P.S.
Anybody know if there's going to be a full sized practice field? I know some teams banded together at Greater Kansas City (And I, along with other teams, are tremendously within your debt for providing such a top facility for testing)

1540 can't wait! It'll be a whole new experience for us and we're looking forward to it!

S.W.A.T. is totally amped up for this one, and with any luck, we won't be needing 2410 (and 3764) to push us onto our wheels this time. (Though I vastly prefer that to ending up helpless the whole match. Thanks again for endangering your robot to help ours.)

It most certainly was not a problem for us. We've been in that tipped over helpless position before and it's really not fun to have to walk out to the field at the end and right everything/check on everything working. It's always a good feeling to see a tipped robot working seconds later. If you need us, we'll be sure to help you *rebound*. FIRST pun in this thread! (And now there's two.)

Luckily for us, "Mike Wazowski" (The green eyeball guy from Monsters Inc.), as we're nicknaming our robot, already has a bit of a track record of taking hits, flips, and general game-related impact well. All our damage has been cosmetic issues (a paint scratch and a bent electronics cover) that don't really cause issues with anything. Every time we do something that we think should've killed it, it just comes back ready to rumble (Making it three puns just for good measure).

There usually is a stream.

Our robot, the Black Knight, appropriately ended Kansas City armless. It's just a flesh wound. We're looking forward to improved performance in Oklahoma.

The Saints can't wait! We have a ramp and part of a bump we can bring for a practice field if they're needed. We're also from near OKC, so we're more than happy to help if rookie teams have any problems or questions about the area. And if someone finds somewhere it is going to be streamed,if they would post the link here I would be eternally in your debt. I'll post one if I find one too.

Look forward to seeing everyone. Competition is always a blast.

Re: 2012 Oklahoma Regional

With competition a week away, how is everyone coming along? Any thoughts, comments, or concerns?
Team 2410 is returning to Oklahoma, and hoping to sweep the field as we did back in 2010 and regain our footing as competitive veterans after our major loss in Greater Kansas City.
But as well, we are hoping to help out the teams attending OKC in any way that we can. With a little over half of the field being teams who're above 3000, we'd like them to know that we are always willing and available to help your robot improve, even if that means we're giving you the necessary tools to take us out in the finals.

There's just one week left until we see each other. Let's hope this week passes fast; competition is great, and the GP is higher here than any other competition.

I'm super excited to be going back to the Oklahoma regional this year! I no longer live in the area, but it just happens to be my spring break.
As mentioned before, I'll be webcasting and archiving video at www.botsnlinux.net/okcregional. My optimistic plan this year is to get all of the archived video up on YouTube by the end of Friday and Saturday night, for any teams that want to scout matches Friday or re-live the finals.

55 Teams are attending; 16 teams are going to their second regional, 39 teams will be playing for the first time.
Of those 16, nearly half of them (seven) have made it to Eliminations. Six of those seven made it to Quarter Finals, the seventh (3528) got out in the GKC Semi Finals.
Congratulations to the following:
Team 932, Circuit Chargers on their Regional Chairman’s Award at Colorado.
Team 1540 for their Woodie Flowers Award Finalist and Dean’s List at Autodesk Oregon.
Teams 3931 and 3937 on their Rookie All Star awards at Greater Kansas City and Bayou, respectively

Those awards recognized above are just a fraction of the total awards won by the teams who are attending and you should take the time on when you're down there to talk to all the teams about their FIRST experiences.

Liking the scouting. I noticed a few teams that competed at Colorado. If you have any questions, I am very familiar with all of those robots from CO regional. HMU on facebook/text.

Rock on 2410!

Just a note to eveyone in attendance, Team 2410 will be teaming up with team 2004 the Thuderducks to host "Build OKC" a food drive to benefit the local community in Oklahoma City. For those of you who attended the Greater Kansas City Regional this year, you may remember the Build KC announcements in the pits, and off of the twitter feed. Due to the great results, we decided to do it again in OKC. Please help spread the word and let your sister teams that may be in attendance know.

Can't wait to see everyone there!

Facebook and Twitter

Please tell everyone on your teams to be sure and “like” the OKC Regional Facebook Page – http://www.facebook.com/pages/Oklaho...11881829155and follow them on Twitter – www.twitter.com/#!OklahomaFIRST

There will be a lot of pictures and posts being made. In KC, they had some pretty funny tweets being sent out!

It was a busy day in the Cox center today! Not surprisingly, things started off a bit slow, but most of the practice matches were full by the end of the day.

The video archiving tests went well today, so I am optimistic that I will have all of the matches on YouTube (accessible from the webcast site) within ~30 minutes of each match being played. Hopefully this will be an extra plus for teams trying to replay matches and do scouting.

All of the awards from tonight are on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/botsnlinux

Congratulations to all of the teams who won an award tonight, and a special shout-out to my sister's team (#2359) for the KPCB Entrepreneurship award and my brother's team (#3937) for the Rookie Inspiration award!

I think the "Play of the day" award goes to the teams in match 35: Not only was this the only match of the day with two robots on an alliance bridge, it had the most wild coopertition balance I've seen yet!

From all of us at FIRST team 1540, the Flaming Chickens, we just wanted to say that we had a fantastic time in Oklahoma! We flew in from Oregon on Wednesday, and have enjoyed incredible weather and hospitality for our entire stay!

At the competition, we were fortunate enough to win the regional competition and the Chairman's Award! This is a huge honor for us and we feel incredibly honored to have been chosen. We would like to thank our alliance partners, 3528 "Up Next" and 2395 "Ninja Monkeys." You guys were awesome and we had a lot of fun!

It was so much fun competing with your guys and we can't wait to see you at worlds in St. Louis! :)

Re: 2012 Oklahoma Regional

Representing Team 3507: It was a wild ride! We finally got all our electrical and mechanical issues fixed, and even had an effective arm (built in between KC and here), and it paid off. 8-2 isn't shabby at all. In any case, thanks to everyone who came for an awesome experience (OKC is amazing, I love the setup), and congrats to 3528, 1540, and 2395 on the win - though I wish we'd have been in your place. 5 seconds between us and a tiebreaker match... It would have been fantastic if we'd solved the range-finding programming problem so we could shoot from the key more effectively, but you can't argue with the most teleoperated points (According to FRC Spyder), I guess. (I'm really proud of our robot this year, can you tell?)

We've had an amazing second year, and we've gained a lot of valuable experience building such a competitive robot - including what we did wrong (practice field for autonomous and other programming jobs - necessary). I'm just a little sad that we couldn't give the seniors who joined this year a chance to go to St. Louis like we did last year - especially our drivers, who were also mechanical leads and really deserve some props. I'm thinking about seeing if some of us can go and just watch, though it'll be hard to get off school for that.

Finally, it looks like I'll probably be attending Tulsa University, so I'll be glad to see everyone next year - this time as a college mentor!

Go |_|botics!

P.S. I was the one with the N7 hoody with the red and white stripes yelling my lungs hoarse. Spent all my time in the stands because I usually only go down when there's a problem with the robot - a welcome change.

Re: 2012 Oklahoma Regional

Oklahoma Regional...wow what an amazing 5 days. (Went down on Wednesday, came back today.) Where to begin about it...first off, thanks to all of the teams and volunteers that made this regional everything that it is. So far, out the the 7 regionals I've been to, (3 Greater Kansas City, 2 Oklahoma, 1 Midwest, and 1 Atlanta Champs) Oklahoma is most definitely the most memorable regional places. From maintaining the pit order [I think? That's what I heard from 1742 (Shock what? ShockWAVE)] to 3507 being across from our pit and just chilling with them when both robots are out, it was amazing. The fact that it consistently ran ~10mins fast was both a blessing and a curse. Yay we got out of the arena early, but boy did it severely limit our prep time in between matches. The human vs. robot stuff was really interesting, and was something new I've never seen done, only though about. Oh, and the MC's were amazing. The way they worked in tandem made this regional into something special.
Speaking of special...a huge thank you to the Regional team for allowing me to ask my girlfriend to Prom on the field. To quote her, "that was the absolute best way to ask me to prom."

Finally, congratulations to all of the teams who won awards here, especially to 1540, the Flaming Chickens for a well done competition. Flying all the way down from Oregon, sweeping the awards, and being all around friendly. We were in the running for Chairmans as well, but you absolutely smoked us with your program. (See what I did there? Flaming chickens...smoke...hehehe...)

I can't wait to decide where we go next year, but I'm sure that we will remember all the great times we had in Oklahoma, both from 2010 when we won it all to 2012 when we rebounded from Greater Kansas City.
