Very impressive. Glad we got to see it. Even though it was on the webcast. There were some great matches at Waterford this weekend.

That was the coolest thing to watch, especially since I was right at the field edge (our "pits"). That was an awesome way to kick off the finals. Watching our alliance go up was beautiful (especially with 67's crazy arm to tip) but the crowds just went wild when 573's alliance went up too. Only in Michigan will you see a double triple in week 2. Working with 67 and 2851 was awesome, ezpecially the 5 triple balances. Great job to 3098, 573, and 3601, I'm sure we'll see you guys at MSC.

Question: Did it just happen that the 3 of you were wide bots or was that planed?

That was definitely planned. We scouted all weekend to find robots that would work well with our balancing strategy.

Once we knew we were selecting 469, both teams worked together to determine which teams would work. Luckily, we were able to select 2851 with the 24th pick.

All three robots do not have to be wide for our system to work. Someone just has to be able to hang off the edge.

Thanks for the quick response, I remember all the people in the practice field watching you do it for the first time.

Did you require a team to be off the edge with all wide robots? If so, how far?

Nope, we were all "wheels dry" -- all on the bridge!

No. Our robot kinda hangs off the edge when the bridge goes up, but then we move towards the center to get it completely level. The way the CGs of these three robots matched up, I don't think 469 had to be off the edge at all.

It's probably very robot combination dependant. I am confident we can triple balance with any combination of three wide robots.

Technically, 469 is not wide...they are actually square (~28" x 28").

We just think wide thoughts! :-)

It's hip to be square!!!

Re: Double Triple Balance!

Team 67 (HOT) uses their bridge manipulator/ball collector/bump manipulator to balance the bridge, then their alliance partner slowly backs up until the manipulator is off the ground (Or they just raise it back up, I'm not 100% sure). Either way it's a great design and congrats on winning Waterford HOT and Las Guerillas.

Congratulations to all involved.

Most of us tried to build shooters that can deal with the bridge. HOT built a brigde robot that can deal with shooting (quite well at that). Outstanding.

Did any of the robots on Blue have bridge stabilizing appendages or was that all done with brute-force driving skill?

Quite a sight. Thanks again to 2771 for providing the webcast!

Brute- force driving skill I believe.

That was definately driving force.. I was for one thrilled to be part of this...thanks to 573 for picking us...and 3601 for being a great partner...you guys were amazing.....67 469 and 2851...all I can say is we gave it our best and congrats on the win....still not sure how 2851 was still around for the last selection. Great job to all

Definately all on the drivers for the blue alliance. 573 is a long bot, but 3098 and 3601 are both wide bots. After trying a few different configurations on the practice field we finally found one that worked. Despite the loss, being a part of the very first double triple made my day. It was a very exciting, and we were oh so close to pulling it off again in the 2nd match.

As a Mentor for 2851, I would just like to extend a huge thank you to 67 and 469 for picking us to be apart of your alliance. We were absolutely thrilled to finally be able to work with you guys than against you guys this year. This was the first banner we got to bring home and we are so grateful! We are gonna work out our tweaks on our robot, get some more driving practice in, and we will see you both at Troy!
