I, and I'm sure many other people, would rather belt-sand off their fingernails than play Lunacy again.

I dunno, looking at Lunacy footage I feel like it would be a fun game to try again at.

*shudders in horror*

I really, really did not like Lunacy.

Was it really that bad?

The same type of setup could work very well for ro-boats navigating the surface of a shallow pool.

My problem is that there are no guarantees your robot will always be floating, and having no exposed electronics could get a little difficult. I see way too many teams failing inspection.

Yes. Fun to design the robot, not very strategic to play, and very confusing to watch.

I think the best discription of Lunacy was from a parent of a student on our team.

It looked like a bunch of 6 year olds playing soccer.

Yeah, it was that bad. You failed to show up for the match, you gave your opponents 24 points on a sitting target if you didn't strategically plan where the missing robot would go. You had no automode, same thing. And moving two robots, in effect, one unpowered, was painful.

That and the "infinite supply" of official game objects...

Hmm, that DOES sound pretty bad..

I like these minibots from the 2002 that run from tethers.

I understand what you are saying because I coach 6 year olds playing soccer in AYSO.

Agreed, but the first thing I thought of when I saw this years game was "gee, if they made us use the Lunacy wheels on 'regolith' again for this game, they could've called it SPACE JAM" and that would've been pretty awesome :P

I have one idea for a game that could be really fun.

Dodgeball.

Think about it, two balls per robot. Each robot must mount a pressure plate that when hit by a ball causes them to shut down for a few seconds. If you get hit three times then you are out and you must exit the court. Last alliance standing wins.

Re: Possible 2013 Game Idea

What if the field was made of two separate levels, with holes in the top one that the robots could fall into?
