Clayton is a great part of town to stay in. It's like a second (and smaller) Downtown St. Louis. It looks like you'll be staying right by a Metrolink station too.

Team 2949 PWNAGE will be staying at the Missouri Athletic Club. 1 block away from the dome, and it has a good breakfast, a billiards room, and this awesome lounge room.

I'll be staying at the Hampton a couple blocks over from the dome, as a volunteer. Last year I was at the Holiday Inn Select, thought I can't say too much about it... I think I spent about 20 hours total in the room in the 4 nights I was there haha

We just qualified for Worlds and are currently scrambling for a hotel. I was wondering where teams without a bus are staying/how they're navigating their way around town? We're planning to fly in and rely on public transportation to/from the airport.

Do we need to stay near the Dome (expensive, especially now), or is there someplace cheaper on the MetroLink to the Dome that's convenient enough to stay by? Or has anyone rented a van or found another solution that's worked well before?

We are staying at the Drury Hotel right next to the Arch. We are also like 7 blocks away from the dome, so its a nice walking distance.

I'll be there as a volunteer. Haven't stayed there before, but have heard good things. Proximity to the dome makes it a popular choice.

Looking forward to seeing PWNAGE there -- great team with a very well built robot for 2012. Who else is at Missouri Athletic Club?

Based on my experience, it is not essential to stay that close to the Dome. Last year I traveled with 303 and we stayed at the Residence Inn St. Louis Galleria. It is a two minute walk from a metro station, and we used the metro to get around anywhere we need to go. Although it is a long ride to the Dome (about 20 or so minutes), it is a simple route. Although you have to make one transfer, you can access it from the airport as well. It is about a 5 minute walk from the Galleria and there are plenty of food options there. It also includes a free breakfast. Last year my parents were able to book a room there two weeks before CHampionships for about $149.

We (FRC Team 1501) are staying at the Crowne Plaza. It's one mile from the airport and the hotel will drive you anywhere within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. Our team is going to use the Metrolink and but a 1 week pass.

Team 781, another one of the 20 teams from the Great White North, is staying at the Hampton Inn near the airport, after only a 12 hour bus trip. At least bus is faster than dog sled.
