Most Regional Wins ever
 

Karthik made a comment during the introductions to Finals 1-1 at WAT 2012, about 2056 being the team with the 4th most regional wins ever, at 12.

By my count, 1114 has 19, and 67 has 18 (if you count MI districts and MSC), 71 has 13. Are these the 3 that Karthik was talking about? Anybody got more regional wins to their name than 1114?

We all know now, that 2056 is even more impressive, since they've now been to 13 regionals, and won all 13.

2056's streak from their rookie event surpassed 254's previous record (of 8, IIRC) about 2 years ago.

As of right now the order of regional wins (including districts and MSC as regionals) are:

As of after the Waterloo event, 2056 is tied with 71 for 4th most Regional Wins... during the event they were 5th in that category. I counted wins (using the FIRST website) for as many teams as I could think of that would be very good in this category... I included District, Regional CMP, and Regionals in "Regional Wins" and also mentioned any CMP or Divisional CMP wins. I included all of these in the tallies on the left. In cases of ties, I ranked the teams higher that had more wins at CMP.


25 - 254 has 21 Regional Wins (+1 CMP Win, +3 additional Dvisional Wins).

23 - 67 has 18 Regional and District Wins (+3 CMP Wins, +2 more Division Wins).

21 - 1114 has 19 Regional Wins (+1 CMP Win, +1 more Division Win).

18 - 71 has 13 Regional Wins (+4 CMP Wins, + 1 more Division Win).

17 - 217 has 11 Regional & District Wins (+2 CMP Wins, +4 more Division Wins).

Regardless, RIP, #40... You'll forever be missed by the FIRST Community, particularly here in New Hampshire! We missed you deeply at GSR this year...

I'm sorry to the teams that I forgot to put on this list... I'm sure there are more teams with at least 4 Event Wins; however, I was running off my own fallible memory (and the USFIRST.org website).

I stand corrected... To add to their reputation a bit though, they were Regional Finalist 6 times, often losing narrowly to very strong alliances.

341 also has a CMP division win for Galileo in 2003.
The only time we ever appeared on Einstein was also our very first Blue Banner. :) What a thrill that was.

BOB feels left out. We have 3 Regional Wins and 2 District Wins for a total of 5. Curie Division Winner in 2001 despite what the FIRST website says. Funnily enough we are 7 times finalists ( 2 District, 2 Regional, and 3 Division.) Maybe we can start a Finalist list.

Michael, Sorry for leaving 85 out! According to the FIRST website, you were a Division Winner in 2000... is that in addition to or instead of the 2001 Win? Congratulations on your team's success! :-)

The data I believe FIRST has is paper so the 2000 is an error and should be 2001. Thank you, although we have had our bad years as well.

Agreed... They seem pretty reliable if you don't go back beyond about 2002... their accuracy before that period seems "astonishingly unreliable," as you said. I've tried to put that as a disclaimer as much as I can! :-)

Their reliability past that point is pretty poor as well. Kearse and I spent some time this summer tracking data down and we found all sorts of mistakes in the FIRST databases.

So I see that we have the most regional wins without getting to Einstein....
I hope we change that one day.:p

Our current driver has 6 regional wins, 1 finalist, 2 IRI wins in his 9 regional/off-season tournaments he has done so far......and currently a junior.

With district events probably coming to California, I can see the Poofs start distancing themselves again from the rest of the pack, other than 67 and 1114.

Haha, you and us both waialua! I saw that HYPER's the 2nd without getting to Einstein and although we haven't won one in a few years, I have confidence that we will improve to one day make that dream come true.

Glad to hear there was some effort to assess it... Perhaps teams could "fact-check" their own award history and submit revisions to FIRST? If there's a question of the integrity of this system of teams supplying their own award history, some sort of proof could be required. Perhaps a photo with the trophy or a bracket of the event. I'm not sure how to setup such a system, but it seems like it could help improve the reliability of the awards pages...

Team 51, including wins inherited from 47 and 65, has at least 14: 9 Regional wins, 2 District wins, a Michigan State Championship, 2 Division wins (including 1 Championship), and a CMP Finalist from before divisions

Team 494 has 7: 4 Regional Wins, 1 District win, and 2 Division wins (including one Championship)

Team 1918 has 6: 5 District wins and a Michigan State Championship

Team 245 has 6: 4 Regional wins, 1 District win, and a Division win

Team 68 has at least 4: 2 Regional wins, 1 District win, and a Division win (CMP finalist)

177 has 7 total Championship Divisions (everyone forgets the 2001 Galileo, the first year of divisions) so it should be +5 more Division wins.

The FIRST website doesn't show them as Winners of 2009 GTR, despite them winning, with 2056, and 2185. For some reason, 2056 is the only one that shows a regional win for that event.

It's very possible that 1114 will catch up this year. With their three so far this year and us not having competed yet, they're currently only one behind. Their trophy/banner case is really cool and awe-inspiring, too.

Expect 1983 to make it up on this board by the end of the year. They're already at 3 regional wins, and after reaching the finals twice so far this year with a truly exceptional robot, they look to be the odds on favorite in Spokane.

It should also be noted that 126 is the very 1st FIRST world champion and should be credited for that win.

1592 is now at 4 wins: 2005 Florida, 2008 Colorado, 2012 Orlando, and 2012 South Florida. We also had a finals appearance in 2007 on Newton in Atlanta.

From what I've heard, 40 is out on a one year hiatus.

They've invested in FTC teams this year instead of FRC.

Don't quote me on this because I'm not 100% certain, but I was told that 40's major sponsor decided not to sponsor FRC and as a result they were left high and dry for this year, so they had to go with FTC. I'm not sure whether or not they'll return for 2013, but I certainly hope so.

Also, 195 is at 4 regional wins + 1 division win now! All in the past 6 years, too.

If you're going to count Division Wins with as much weight as Champ win, you should also include the Division that led to the Champ win. Teams do receive blue banners from both the Division and the Whole Enchilada win, and it seems unbalanced that winning the whole thing is as good as winning only the division. I guess the thread is about Regional Wins only, but still.

No, you're right. It should. Many, many pre-"championship" wins (those that won when it was called "nationals") are listed here.

Team 20 now has 4 Regional victories:
2008 FLR and Boston
2010 WPI
2012 CT

Actually 5 if you count the Long Island Regional from 2001 when we were still combined with Team 250, but I don't know how we're counting shared victories.

Nevermind, I misunderstood what you meant by +1 division win. (you don't double count a World championship and a division win in thee same win)

Skunkworks, team 1983, and their alliance partner, team Tators 2122, have both finally reached 4 regional wins after absolutely destroying in Spokane.

Team 66 has 3 regional winners(04,05,05) and 3 district winners (09,10,11) aswell as a CMP winner in 2002.

You are both actually incorrect (not that it's a bad thing, just wanted to clear the air :) ).

Team 40 has decided to focus solely on VEX/VRC (not FTC) for the foreseeable future. Intelitek is still the primary sponsor of Team 40, and we have not lost any funding or support at all. It was a decision made by the team mentors for the benefit of the students and the team.

Currently, Team 40 is happy where we are, and we do not plan on changing anything in the near future. If anyone would like to know anything else, feel free to PM me, so as to not derail this thread from it's intended, and fascinating purpose.

I just noticed that 180, 121(&78), and 1625 are listed with CMP wins. I believe both of those should be just division wins (in 2002, 2009 and 2010, respectively).

341 also, but that was previously noted

There may be others, those were the ones that stood out to me.

987 now has 10 - 8 Regionals, 1 CMP, 1 Division....all since 2005 with maximum of 2 Regionals entered each year.

A number of teams added to their totals this weekend.

Interesting statistics:

2056 is 15-0 in the finals (and has also never lost before the SF at CMP). 341 is 10-0 in the finals (with plenty of QF, SF, and not selected exits).

Who else has won multiple events without ever being a Finalist? I am sure there are others.

2337 is 4-0 in the finals.

Of the teams that added to their totals this weekend, make sure to add 1 each to 67 and 469 for their Michigan State Championship victory.

I was almost surprised 56 was not listed, but someone caught that it seems, there are more than enough teams that dont get noticed outside their regions and aren't well know outside the avid FIRST'ers probably the ones prowling this forum.

I am curious to one point, this is the first year where I have seen so many posts about wins, or finalists, or other such stats. Anyways im not gonna drag the thread off topic.

Also, I wasnt sure if 179 was mentioned, but they have to be up there some where I believe as well.

971 is 6-0 in finals (including division and CMP finals in 2009). In fact, 971 has never lost an eliminations match en-route to a gold (34-0-1 during winning runs).

That CMP win was actually only a Division win. And if I heard correctly during my time with the team, 115 was the 5th member of the alliance that won Curie in 2001 (seems that each alliance selected one backup bot back then), and never actually played a match during that run. But we still got the banner, so it counts. Might have to see what a certain well known 115 alumni has to say about it to get the most accurate info.
